Best Exhaust

I want to know the best bang for your buck! I am planning a whole frame off restoration this winter and I plan on putting a new exhaust on. I am new to the VTR so I want to hear everyone's opinion. I'm hoping to keep the budget around $400. I really like the look and the sound of the Dan Moto JISU system. Worth it? or no?

Wouldn't you rather discuss oil or tires? Those are much better subjects with no gray areas like exhausts.
Kidding aside, $400 won't get you a new good to excellent quality brand. Seeing how there is two (Yoshi and Leo Vince IIRC) that you can get new, and they are more than $400.
Dan Motos,by all accounts are not just loud, but stupid loud. If that is OK, then the price quality ratio is not all that bad. Keep in mind they are not Micron, Erion, Devil, etc. quality either. You should check the classifieds and see if Captain Chaos still has his Devils for sale. Your not going to easily find a better quality and sound than those.
Good hunting.

I'm partial to Erions... My black ones in fact.

The Erion system sounds good, maybe I'll have to increase my budget a bit. We'll see. I'll be putting a lot of time into this bike this winter, I was just hoping to keep costs at a minimum.

Do what you can afford, I redid my second Hawk last winter and I did put the Dan Moto's on mine they are loud alright but think they look nice for the money. My first Hawk had high mount LeoVince exhaust that was sweet but huge money and to be honest I can't remember that much power difference between the two.

Try E Bay Aust and search for Mussari.

These are rebadged IXIL from Spain and offer great bang for your buck.

Come with link pipes that bolt to the mufflers and allow for higher mount with different hangers.

Had mine for nearly 3 years now and no problems. Very good service from this company and they do other makes as well.

With your exchange rate they will fit your budget.

This is how I have mine.

They were a bit quiet so I modded the baffles as well.

Good luck!

I'd love you to buy my stuff but if you're looking for bang for your buck debaffle the stockers and be done with it-it's free. If done correctly they sound just as good as aftermarket pipes, and unlike a lot of stock mufflers the superhawk's are pretty nice looking. If you want new on a budget I'd skip the Danmoto's and spend a few bucks more on Delkevics. They're VERY nice quality for a very fair price.

I appreciate the input guys! I do plan on replacing the exhaust regardless. The previous owner laid the bike down and the left side pipes are pretty banged up. Captainchaos, if your pipes are still available when I start this build, I will definitely purchase them. I'm trying to get this build done using my bonus from work in a couple months. I just plan on riding the crap out of the bike for now.

I found this exhaust, thought you might like to consider it as an option.

Made in China so the price will be right. It's a small family run boutique shop. Looks like they specialize in custom designs with an emphasis on green technology.

Don't knock the Dayang guys.

I'm lead to believe that that bike won Bike Of The Month on the Dayang forum and it was mainly down to the radically modded pipe with custom hanger.

That bike rocks!

Jed,

I have always wished for a set of your pipes mate.

They are über cool and look fantastic.

Sure you don't want to start making them available for sale to us folks on here?

As we say in Australia " I would almost give my left nut for them"

Translation, They are very, very desirable!

Those are very nice.

Did you use a larger diameter tubing than stock?

Jedrek, I saw those when you first posted them and never got to ask. How long did it take you to weld all that together?

Reminds me off a nice handmade 2 stroke exhaust... maybe its my 2 stroke background but i really like the look off the welds and a naked pipe haha... put some engine oil on their when its cold and damp otherwise surface rust is just around the corner if you didnt clear coat them but still that wears away

Ah Ha,

That's why I like them.

Reminds me of the chambers I had on a series of RD's I had back in the 70s and 80s

Still would love a set though.

I have approached exhaust shops here in OZ to make me a set of pipes but it's all too hard for them and if they are interested the cost is stratospheric.

Oh well, one can dream I guess.
