Anyone tried to fit RC51 rear damper to a Hawk?

Hi,

I'm brand new to the forum, I've been very impressed with the information here but I haven't seen any reference to anyone trying an RC51 rear damper on a hawk. Has anyone tried this? Any success?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, there's a reason why you can't find any info nor anyone using them. They don't fit because of a different bottom mount. Earlier CBR series (not RR's) fit with a spacer but spring rates are too light for most folks.

Also, the VFR series shocks are the closest in physical length and spring rate but they are just as limitied as the VTR shock in adjustability.

So is there a list of preferred options in order of suitability out there? If not I'll just look to get something specific for the VTR.

Thx

You truly can't go wrong with getting a VTR specific Ohlins, penske, wilbers, bitubo, WP, etc. In the USA, wilbers has the best bang/buck ratio.

Lot's of threads on shocks. Check 'em out. Do a search for "superbling" in the performance mods section and that will get you started!

Fox also used to make a shock for the VTR so you might be able to find one of those used.
