I proposed that we start a compatability chart some time ago and I still think it would be a good idea. Greg says he does not have the CBR600 dimensions in his database. I think I remember reading someplace in the archives that the F4's or early F4i's would work. My son has a 99 F4 and it has the same wheels and tire sizes as the Superhawk but I think the forks are slightly shorter. Depending on your riding style a bit shorter means a bit quicker to turn-in on the corners. Not entirely a bad thing. My bet is that the later models of 600rr forks would be scarey quick on turn-in because they are so short to the point that a high side would be very possible. For a smaller rider 5' 6" to 5' 8" slightly shorter in front could be a good combination when coupled with lowering the rear similarly. I think there's enough adjustment on the aftermarket shocks to accomodate this. The stocker will not.

Well, I have a 2005 CBR600RR in my shed but I've not the time to get out there lately and F around with measuring stuff. I can't get them out of the shed since there's still 1 foot of snow in the backyard. I have a couple days off coming up. Maybe I'll get out there and take some measurements.

Forks that are TOO short can cause stability problems. Rake is reduced. Trail is reduced. Too much weight on the front will cause the bike to push in the corners and you could slide the front. A highside is unlikely since that is usually brought on by loss of traction at the rear.

This guy I am planning to buy a '03 VTR off of said that he replaced the front forks and what not with the F4i's. I'm not sure what year they are but they seem to work fine. I'll have to ask him what year those forks are.
