Wheel refinishing

Wheel refinishing
Among the many things I have going at one time. Mirror extenders, LED mirror mod....cut my mirror apart to install 5 leds on each side to integrate with the blinkers, and I have also taken the oportunity while the rear tire is off to refinish the wheel. That is the Hawk only list right now, not including all my car stuff...woooow. Wanted to do something that I had not seen done yet.

I've been seriously contemplating polishing my VTR's wheel lips. My front is off now and I have a new hoop to put on so now is the time. Do you have any step by step pics to show your work?
I imagine yellow wheels are a beach to keep clean, but yours maybe not so much. Nice variation.

I've polished rims before, and it was a friggin' nightmare. Stripper made it so much easier.
OP, they look nice. Interesting idea.
Not trying to thread jack, lol

Tape off the painted area you don't want to strip, spray on aircraft stripper, and give it about 10 minutes. Wipes right off.

As Matt says. there is a really nice machined lip that only requires paint removal. Just removing paint from that sections makes a big difference.

I had a decent amount of oxidation under the paint when I stripped the lips.
Your right about the porous area of the rims. I sanded that down once... 24 hours for each rim... never again!
Ah well, I could always bite the bullet and powdercoat?
