What should I do for a paint scheme?
Should I reproduce the paint that was on it?
Should I do a similar scheme with a different base color?
Something else?
I didn't think I was going to like the Daijiro Kato neon orange and black paint, but it kind of grew on me. Not sure I want to draw that much attention though.

I like the WWII scheme too, but it would be pretty hard to pull off I think, I liked the paint you have now, but it is pretty attention grabbing.

I like the colors on it, but I'm partial to orange-based colors. Someone here recently posted a pic of a bike they had done in Honda Element burnt orange or something - looked great.
my favorite is the Castrol SP1 paint scheme on the RC51 - its just about perfect to me.

I spent quite a bit of time painting my fuel tank and it lasted about 15 minutes!
I love the Edwards Stars and Stripes. I was there when he outraced Troy Bayliss on it in Race 2 at Laguna Seca, which was the only time he rode with that livery. that would be cool, but maybe also a bit pretentious, and a lot of work.
Not going for a work of art here. I have white base coat, black and clear. Maybe I'll do the same stripes, but black on white. Maybe some of the leftover neon orange for highlights...
That would cost me $0, which is good.
I could also have the white tinted.

i think it would look especially good on an RC 51. you could even change the "RC 51" to "P 51" pretty easily.
i'de love to see it photoshopped. let me know if you end finding any pics or try to go ahead with it
now if there were only a way to get one of those rolls royce merlin engines into a bike....

I had the same idea about 2 years ago. I got shark teeth decals and my helmet is basically the same thing. KBC with the pin-up and the aircraft skin. but when it came down to application, I realized I couldn't make it look as good as I wanted, so I didn't do it at all. besides, my bike is a workhorse. she doesn't get pampered indoors, or get detailed every week. a fancy shmancy paintjob like that would just get damaged after having it a week by the elements, and then it would look like a pretty bike that had fallen to strictly utility duty, instead of a decent looking strictly utility bike. maybe someday. when I have more bikes.
