Sharkskin lower fairings any good?

Does anyone have a Sharkskin lower fairing?
How do you like it?
Is it good quality, fit, & good finish?
What is the difference between the street & race lower fairing?
Do you have any pictures of it mounted on your bike?

TIA
Bill

Street fairing fits the stock upper. Race fairing fits Sharkskin's race upper. The race pair is a little better looking IMHO.

Other than that, I'm no help at all.

I don't own one but I do know that as far as fairing company's go they are considered one of, if not the best on the market. They are one of the thickest and strongest and usually fit the best of all the aftermarket fairings. The only other thing that is different that jshmidt left out is the race fairing is made to catch fluids so the bottom is closed. The street fairng has holes to cool things off.

Is this a sharkskinz? This one came on my 98. Although I found the looks OK, it was a gravel trap while riding and a screw/bolt trap anytime I dropped one while working on the bike thus necessitating removal of it to retrieve them. The right rear pipe also burned a hole but I think that was because of a missing bracket but I'm not totally sure how or if a bracket is supposed to come with it since I didn't buy it new.

It could be but it's hard to tell because there are a couple of company's that use the same shape, but it looks sim. It should've had some heat tape on the inside as well if it was a sharkskinz.

Re: Sharkskin lower fairings any good?

Last year I bought a used RACE lower from another member on this board. It's constructed of fibergalss, and mounts directly to my bike with stock body panels. Apparently, the only difference between STREET and RACE lower fairing is that the RACE version has no holes in the bottom. No problem for me, just drilled a hole in the rear to let the water drain out. I did need to enlarge the hole because small bits of gravel tend to clog the small diameter hole I started with.
