There was another place nearby that was a little cheaper, but AZ Powder Coat has a great reputation, so I went with them. All you have to do is make some phone calls and shop around

thanks for the flowers gentlemen. It's not pristine by show standards, but we love the ride regardless. The 190x50 rear tire(6" rim) is a little puzzling to me. I don't like chicken strips yet I got 1/2" chicken strips on my rear tire. I slid with authority 3 times before I came to the realization that they're likely not going away barring a washout, even then I'll still have one on the other side.
does anyone know if the 190x55 has the same tread arc as the 190x50 or are the steep sides a result of the shorter sidewall. Next tire will likely be a 190x55 if I can get a lightweight sticky one.

thnx again, nathan

The arch on the 190x50 is a bit steeper yes... But the 190x55 is a lazy sob in the corners...

are you saying that the 190x55 is less responsive than the 190x50. without real experience, it seems that it should be equal or better.

what i know is that my bto-16 190x50 measures approx 240mm across and i am using 220mm(10mm chicken strip on each side).
the bto-14 180x55 measures 225mm across and i used 225mm.

according to these measurements, I can use more rubber with smaller tread width, i.e., 220mm used with the 190x50 vs 225mm used with the 180x55.

next question: is there more usable tread on the 190x55 than on the 180x55? because even though there is more tread on my 190x50, it is not usable for me. My assumption is that there is more usable on the 55 than on the 50 since there is a higher sidewall, which in turn allows a shallower tread arc, thus allowing usable tread to the edges of the tire.

this issue of usable tread width of the 190x50 would likely be even worse on a 5.5" rim than on a 6".

That is assuming the overall diameter (center of tread) is equal for both tires.
