Steering lock has been made closer by moving the rad up there,,,,but is a cafe racer remember, they have no lock, you are ment to lean till it all scrapes!! You only need lock to reverse park!!!! ha.

Starting to get the boring stuff sorted out now, like all of this under seat Spaghetti... The only good part is that Honda seem to add plenty of length to the wiring loom allowing some components to to situated where I want them without hours of wire soldering extensions!!

Thanks mate. Far more work than I imagined I was going to do, but one thing flows into another.

Thanks for the encouragement and advise boys, I did not realise the beer and brain power needed to change this bike into a cafe racer, it is pretty challenging to crack this by yourself with no plans to follow, just a vision in my head at what I think will look cool, and what I want to ride around on.

I am lucky that I can do 99% of the work myself, but if you would have to subcontract this out it would be too cost prohibitive.

I will take a look on ebay for a mosfet rec , reg to replace this one. This wreck I have bought has only done 20,000klm, so most of the components are in good shape so far.

Cheers.

people have more r/r problems when they put them under more load. like when changing bulb to smaller wattages, having manual switches to turn off headlights and some other "changes" all put extra load to/on the r/r. adding a high wattage headlight bulb can help with the r/r lifespan. another r/r life prolonging things you can do is put it in a place where it can cool faster and more efficiently, as all it does is use up excess power by converting it into heat (too much heat is what is causeing r/r to fail) . i wouldn't worry about getting a new one until you have to... and then everyone says yamaha r1 work great and there cheaper. not saying you dont already know any of this but its just my two cents.

just a thought with your indicators.... they might be to close together (just by looking) for qld transport laws for rego'ing a bike. because i had problems with my naked vtr in qld and they look alot wider then yours. the easy rule is same width as standed no more or less. stupid but the rules. dont know if it will be a problem since your going to have to get mod plates anyway ??? fyi (i had to add 10mm spacers on each side)

Whoa look at that exhaust. The things I would give for metal fab skills and equipment.

Also, nice detail on the mag sprocket guard... that's probably the best version of a modded stock cover that I've seen (or at least remember)

P.S. When a new member logs on, the two pieces of advice are to upgrade the R/R and replace the cct's... What I'm saying is that I'd look into a MOSFET regardless of the mileage of the stock one...

I see that exhaust getting nixed, or at least cussed at a ton. Looks cool, but also looks painful!

This is a radicool little project man! I really dig what you are doing with the bike!

I would advise on relocation of the R/R, particularly if you go to lighter draw lights. I really stripped the electrical system and mounted my R/R exactly as you have, and there is very little airflow through the bumstop. We all know how this ended:

So after I switched to the MOSFET R/R, I relocated it into the airstream, and it stays really cool now. You can see it below my hand above the RH radiator:

BTW, where did you get that radiator?

maybe just mount the r/r under the seat pan. that is if you are quite sure it's darn close to water"proof"

Well boys things have been a bit slow over the last week as I went to watch the Sepang MotoGp. It was very sad to loose such a colorful rider as Marco, RIP. I met as spoke to some lovely people over there. here are some shots I took.

Sorry I dont know what HVLP is? But I have a auto paint shop just up the road from me and they help and guide me where I have run into problems. The paint that they supply to me is Spies Hecker. Unfortunately I dont have a spray booth but I rigged up a tent, with small fan, and spray with a mask and disposable suit, I sometimes get some dust particles that **** me to tears.

thanks for all your encouragement,, I will keep the pics coming

I must have had this Haybusa front end on and off a dozen times to set everything right. The steering stops proved a pain in the ****,with the new Radiator. Now I have to sort the ignition switch out.
