NEW SEAT!!

I just got a corbin gunfighter seat off ebay tonight. my bike is gonna look even more different come spring. I've got some before pics from right after I got it back on the road, but I'm gonna wait till I get all the new parts on it later this spring. then I'll post them both. I hope this seat makes a significant difference. comments are welcome.

I have the same seat. My only complaint is that when you gun the throttle, there's so much room behind your *** that you tend to slide back. I love the lower height - no more tippy toes. My wife doesn't dig the pillion portion - too high and lacks cushion. I got the back support, but she still wasn't happy. Works for me - more solo riding=less nagging ;-)

Re: NEW SEAT!!

I have the Corbin on my SH and on my previous Nighthawk 750, big difference in comfort IMHO. Here's a picture of my SH with the Corbin.

I also have the corbin and it's a huge improvement over stock. IMO I could ony go for about an hour and a half with the stock seat before comfort was an issue. Now it's more like 3 hours or more before I start to do the wiggle.

Re: NEW SEAT!!

I was also looking into the corbin it would be nice to eleminate the tip-toe issue and comfort issue with one fix. I also thought about bar risers but I did buy a sport bike after all!!

Re: NEW SEAT!!

thanks for the input. I don't think sliding back will be a problem. I've got vortex racing clip-ons, which are a little lower than stock, and I've set them farther out than stock. so I am set in a pretty good crouch. I won't have slack to slide back. I'm not sure if the lower seat will effect me one way or the other. I'm 6' so leg reach was never a problem.

It will help some but don't expect to be flat footed but the comfort is well worth it.

Re: NEW SEAT!!

I have it too. Bought it this winter. Today is the first time I have really ridden with it, and it felt good. I got the backrest too, but my reasoning was somewhere to tie a pack for a long ride.

Re: NEW SEAT!!

I'm not sure if the backrest is included in mine. I don't think so. I would never use it anyway, I've got the rear cowl on. my bike is a mono-fighter. no passengers. I just don't want to risk it. I did let me wife ride on it with me once, but she said she'll never do it again. not because of anything I did, but because she didn't like having to lean on my back, and she was too short to look over my should without seriously messing up my air flow. so she couldn't see where we were going anyway. anyway, the seat shouldd be here any day. where the hell is spring already??

Re: NEW SEAT!!

its here! its here! I got my seat today. its swwweeaaatt. but DAMN is it heavy. like the bottom plate is made of iron. but it looks cool. maybe a little wider than the stock seat. anyway, I'm happy with it. no backrest included. (who cares) now all I need is spring to get here so I can finally put all the crap I got over the winter on my bike.

Re: NEW SEAT!!

My wife will not ride either she went for one 50 mile ride and that was it this is fine with me it looks better with the solo on anyway!! I tried to teach her how to ride at one time she was doing great but she hated turning around in the road one day I watched from the driveway as the front wheel went off the road and she dropped the bike on the left side OUCH not much damage broken clutch lever couple scratches we both learned our lessons

Re: NEW SEAT!!

lol, my wife's feet wouldn't touch the ground if she somehow sat on my hawk. she's 4'11". she's got a lowered gs500 that she rides the hell out of. she's as fast as that bike will let you be. scary sometimes.

Re: NEW SEAT!!

When going through the twisites, have you noticed any difference because of the seat. Example, when I had my ZX9 I noticed that I had to adjust my riding position after putting a Corbin seat on. It was more difficult at first to come out of the seat compared to the stock seat.

The one I have the leather is smooth,(strange I know), so it wasn't an issue actually a little easier. But the ones with the patterns on them might be......anyone?
