Since the air is coming in, I wouldn't think it would hurt it, but I am sure someone with more experience would be here to advise you.

I've often thought that two white LED's would look good in the intakes, as long as they are tasteful and the actual LED is not visible. I am sure you will get some very mixed opinions about this, but that's what Forums are for!

If you hid them behind the fairing so they lit up the rad that would look pretty neat. I am sure that Walmart makes a bar shaped LED that would snug under there pretty cleanly. There should be no heat that could damage anything in that area. What about Orange that lights with the signals? kind of a glow signal. That may be approaching ricer territory.

Let me know what you come up with for wiring and LED types.. and of course pictures, so if it looks ridiculous we won't need to do it to ours! (guinea piggy)

I have also been thinking about putting some type of LED in the intakes. I think it would look good.

i didnt realize those were intakes because they are openned toward the back. that wouldnt make a great ram air intake in that case. but either way, if you idle long enough, it still would get pretty hot in that area. wouldnt you guys think?

Yes the Intakes I was referring to are at the front, and the "Radiator vents" facing backwards are called..... well, i'm not sure. outflow Vents? either way, I can't remember if it gets hot in the vents or not, I don't think it does, but I will check next ride.

LEDs are pretty hearty - they hold up pretty well and should survive indirect heat.

It would take some pretty serious heat to melt the LEDs or neon tubing. I have used both on my cars and motorcycles. When running the wiring make sure to choose the location carefully. Like posted above, indirect heat won't affect it but direct heat will.

Keep in mind to tell any service techs that you have those lights on your motorcycle if you get work done. If you don't they will destroy the wiring when removing fairings and usually tell you tough luck since you didn't let them know.

Are you talking about putting the front blinkers where they are on this one?

I know this is an older thread but I put LED strips that I bought at Walmart in the same area and by my exhaust on my 08 VFR and never had any problems with them melting or falling off

messing about with leds, turnsignals & etc.

Do you have any idea how those lights were put in the "ports" and what happened to the original turnsignal ports?

I'm hoping to do the gixxer integrated mirror conversion but I'm at loose ends as to what to do with the holes that the OEM signals go through.

I've considered putting in some kind of flush-mounts and wiring them to be running lights only (using LEDs, just to keep the strain on the electrical system down.)

Unfortunately I haven't ever seen a teardrop-type front turnsignal that didn't make me think "geez, how butt-ugly do they want me to make my bike?" and all of the flush signals I've seen look like somebody just slapped a piece of amber plastic over the port and walked away.

I don't have the means to replace the stock bodywork or have someone do bodywork modifications along with a new paint job.

Ideas, anyone?

That bike has aftermarket fairings, custom made with the upper and lower as integrated panels, as well as not having the stock holes cut... So not very similar to your situation at all...

My suggestion, Peugeot 306's have blinkers/position lights that fit the hole very well... Stock parts are incandescents, but there are LED aftermarket parts available...

I think he was talking about radiant heat from the motor or radiators when he first asked this way back in 2007.
