Front Turn Signals

Front Turn Signals
I need some options, opinions, advice. After I put the new fairings on I could not bring myself to install the stock front blinkers/running lights. I would like to retain the funtional running lights and signals so I'm not sure the LED flushmounts will work. I also hate the fit - don't wanna hear about no hot frying pan on my new fairings
$64 question is next:
Other than new stockers, are there any post-type mounted signals that any of you have used or seen that would do a reasonable job of replacing the stockers? I have the grommets for the fairing cut-outs so it will be stock in every way.
I have considered sanding my stockers down and just do the Colorite rattle can re-finish on them. What I would really like is something that's a little more sleek, a little more tucked and a little more 3d than the stockers.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

I would recommend against LED signals unless they are facing forward. LEDs are too directional and an LED flushmount would be useless and not seen at all from the front.
That said, the incandescent LP IV flushies are not that bad. Yes, they do require modification to fit between the inner and outer fairings, but you modify the signal itself on a hot pan, not the fairings. I understand though, the memory is the first thing that fades.
I had some really nice comments on my 1000RR LED signals at the SHOG Rally. They are made by Shock Racing but I don't know if they would be compatible with the Superhawk. The stems on those are quite skinny and would look out of place with the large hole in the fairing. But these signals are RIGHT THERE, RIGHT NOW. Nobody has any doubt which direction I'm going. They will also require use of an aftermarket flasher or flash equalizer from www.VFXkits.com.

I had an office next to some guys that had CNC machines and cut these molds all the time. I don't mind a little Dremel on the fairings to make it look right - short stalk - lense just clears the fairing - has a forward look - I'm all good. But it's one of those repairs that you can spend countless trips to run down parts. Or buying parts endlessly on the internet to get **** on like a catbox.
I was just looking for suggestions and I will check out the links and certainly appreciate all the advice.

Dude, those fit inside and mount to the recess of the outer fairing. Ours are just a hole in the outer fairing, thus nothing to mount to....unless you want to epoxy/fiberglass some sort of plate to the back of the fairing.

http://watsendesign.com, By far the best looking flush mount turn signals I have ever seen. Very bright front and rear.

I'll second www.watsendesign.com Very much worth the money and they look beautiful on the bike.
They have 2 design options, the 10- and 3-LED, I use the 3 because it doesn't stick out from the fairing as much (perhaps 3/4 of an inch less?) and is as visible as any safety guru could hope for.

the reason I was asking is because the proton signals that I posted earlier have a model designed to fit the RC-51. If they would fit the VTR also I might have to pick some up. I have the LP IV's on now and like the way they look but the protons are led and have the capability of retaining the running lights.

I just brought my bike in for inspection and they wouldn't inspect it with flush mount signals. Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm pissed because now I have to purchase signals to DECREASE the appearance of my bike.

The Watsens are great. You should also check out the LED signals by Rizoma. They are a German company, and quality is superb. There is an importer in Kentucky who I highly recommend, but can't provide info on just now. Maybe an internet search will turn him up. As soon as I come across his info, I'll post it. I believe he's in or near Danville, Ky. The Rizoma's are a little pricey, but less so than the Watsen's, I believe about $30 each.

I installed a pair of those Proton lights on my RC51 and they mount from the outside with a large washer on the inside just like my Superhawk... not sure if the hole in the body work is the same but if it is they should work fine on a Superhawk.
