Before & After Vol. 2: Whacha think?
For those of you who didn't see the first thread...this is the hawk when i first got it:
I decided to try to make the bike one color cuz i wasn't really feeling the 2-tone. So i sprayed the front satin black:
This weekend, i decided to re-paint the wheels. The gold was flaking off, dirty, and impossible to clean. Took some aircraft remover to the paint, it worked, but was still a bitch to get the paint off, so i brought them to work and had the wheels glassbead blasted:
I was trying to figure out what color to paint them. I thought black would just make the bike look bland. I was thinking about a fresh gold...maybe blue...maybe orange...but ended up going with red when i saw the can of Krylon X metals...
Plus, red is standard Honda... Krylon X metals paint is actually a transparent coating. Its supposed to be used on a shiny surface to end up looking like a chrome red. Since i couldn't find the "x metals converter" i decided that my glass blasted wheels were bright enough to spray the red over it. It took about 6 coats to finally get it to even out... I think the uneven blast was what was making the paint uneven looking. So the paint looked pretty dark after 6 coats, but in the sun it really shimmers.
They looked sexy drying in my garage... So i mounted my brand new jake wilson $158 set of PPs...and chipped the hell out of my front rim lol...cleaned up the brake rotors a bit and gave the bike a little wash:
kinda dark in the shade...
So whacha think? I like them...at least i like them a lot better than the dirty gold. Next step is to paint the tank and tail section to match the front fairings.
