Battery acid spill on my frame
Hey guys, I have a problem its been bugging me for 2 weeks now. I purchased a new battery from wally world and I put it in my superhawk it work great for 30 min then I hear PSH and smoke start coming out I ran to my bike to see what happen and it turn out the battery just blew acid all over my rear frame. I couldn't wash it off fast enough and it start eating my frame but not bad it still good but it ate away the coating of the frame ( I think) or it just left some acid on there I can't get off. Can you guys help me out ? Any suggestion? I did some research some say use a pencil eraser, haven't try it yet

Why are you guys buying wally world acid batteries ?
Thats not the right kind of battery, and will overcharge on the superhawks charging system.
NO acid batteries on these modern bikes at all.

I had on of those WalMart batteries. It worked just fine for 2 years or so. It might have lasted much longer had I not installed a motorcycle alarm system that slowly leached the power from the battery. After 3 weeks of not riding, the battery would be too weak to crank the starter. I disconnected the alarm system and the battery would hold a charge fine even after 3 months of sitting. That old battery, the sealed type, did have low water levels in all the cells. I topped them up, resealed and then used it for a couple extra months until I could get a good AGM battery to replace it. That one works fairly well.
What you have might be a defective battery, or possibly a problem with the regulator.

Yea I know its not the correct battery but I live in a small town. There is no motorcycle place anywhere to be seen so I went with the alternate get one from wally world. Battery work great now I charged to max and the bike started up alot easier than what i used to have on it.

I hope that you have installed the vent drain tube that came with the battery, and routed it to a safe discharge location. I have not heard of anyone using a conventional vented battery on the SuperHawk before... let us know how it works out after a couple of months.
FYI, WalMart does sell the correct "sealed" battery for your bike. It comes dry with the acid in a separate six pack cartridge which you use to fill it all 6 cells simultaneously, then put a proper charge on it and then install the sealing cap.
