Battery acid spill on my frame

Hey guys, I have a problem its been bugging me for 2 weeks now. I purchased a new battery from wally world and I put it in my superhawk it work great for 30 min then I hear PSH and smoke start coming out I ran to my bike to see what happen and it turn out the battery just blew acid all over my rear frame. I couldn't wash it off fast enough and it start eating my frame but not bad it still good but it ate away the coating of the frame ( I think) or it just left some acid on there I can't get off. Can you guys help me out ? Any suggestion? I did some research some say use a pencil eraser, haven't try it yet

Pour coca cola on it, scrub with a sponge, and then wash it off with water. I know it sounds weird, but I'm being serious.

Why are you guys buying wally world acid batteries ?
Thats not the right kind of battery, and will overcharge on the superhawks charging system.
NO acid batteries on these modern bikes at all.

I had on of those WalMart batteries. It worked just fine for 2 years or so. It might have lasted much longer had I not installed a motorcycle alarm system that slowly leached the power from the battery. After 3 weeks of not riding, the battery would be too weak to crank the starter. I disconnected the alarm system and the battery would hold a charge fine even after 3 months of sitting. That old battery, the sealed type, did have low water levels in all the cells. I topped them up, resealed and then used it for a couple extra months until I could get a good AGM battery to replace it. That one works fairly well.
What you have might be a defective battery, or possibly a problem with the regulator.

What happen was i was a moron and didn't see that plug on the side that lets the battery vent out so when i was charging it with my bike that day since i didn't know where i put my battery charger is at and i left it there and next thing i know PSH and that was it.. I try the suggestion above about cocacola it works it took all the acid off but i thhink the damage iss done it ate the coating off the frame, or i need to work it with the pop more tomorrow see if it will come off. i guess my point is who would know that battery need vents, all the other battery doesn't why does this one you know. If the coating is gone what i might do is probably take it apart and spray it with clear coat, because when its wet you barely see it there or maybe even shoot it with alluminum paint. I was pissed that day because i have kept my frame well taken care of look like it just came off the lot, it really killed me.

The correct battery for the SuperHawk will be of a sealed type. If the battery that you installed has a vent nipple on one side, that is certainly the wrong battery!

Yea I know its not the correct battery but I live in a small town. There is no motorcycle place anywhere to be seen so I went with the alternate get one from wally world. Battery work great now I charged to max and the bike started up alot easier than what i used to have on it.

I hope that you have installed the vent drain tube that came with the battery, and routed it to a safe discharge location. I have not heard of anyone using a conventional vented battery on the SuperHawk before... let us know how it works out after a couple of months.
FYI, WalMart does sell the correct "sealed" battery for your bike. It comes dry with the acid in a separate six pack cartridge which you use to fill it all 6 cells simultaneously, then put a proper charge on it and then install the sealing cap.

To nutralize the battery acid use a mixture of baking soda and water. You may want to apply it with an old toothbrush.
