I actually didn't like the blue at all... It screws up nightvision, plus I'm opposed to all blingy... But the red was darned nice... I'll have to ponder that...

the dash bulbs are SMD LED T10 bulbs

they look like these

and what is there to mess up at night? you know how far your bike will rev

with a blue light the neadle glows orrange

they look better in real life than the photo's

and that led strip i installed is mega bright!

Interesting. I agree with Tweety about the blue tach & temp gauge effect, a white LED bulb may be the best choice for them.

What bulb did you use in the "3rd eye" (position light)?

seb421... It's a known fact... The blue light in that tach, even that dim, reduces your nightvision noticably ie how good you see once you look up at the road again... The white is second best...

The red light doesn't screw up the nightvision at all, there is a reason it's used in a lot of military low light operations...

I'm thinking I'm going to swap in some red bulbs like that...

LED's use a lot less 'Juice' than a standard bulb, you could replace all the lights on your bike twice with them and still draw less from the battery

And to be honest at night im not looking at the tacho im looking upfront so dont evan notice or see the blue on the dial, 99% of my riding is done at night to and from work 50 mile round trip up and down unlit motorways, if it was a distraction i would have noticed by now, had it like this for about 9 month now.

good luck with what ever you decide to use

and if your on ebay this is the kind of thing you wana be looking for, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/White-T10-168-...item4aa47d5066
but i would look for a decent power seller that had sold a **** load of them.

all the best, seb.

It's not about weather it's a distraction or not... It's about the color of the light forcing the eye to adapt, and then back again... So if you look down at the dash and up, your eyes needs time to reset themselves... And that could mean missing details... Not trying to convince you to change anything... If you never ever look at it it's fine...

I'm just saying I like the look of the red one, plus the fact that it doesn't affect my night vision the few times I do look down...

just check google or a hand book, hopefully will be aa easy to swap out as the storms.

why are you using that dash btw? does it have features you can use that the storm will support?

fancied a new uber cool dash for a long while, was skint so made do with led's at the time lol

p.s your bike is amazing tweety, love the stock Honda Factory look, your bike looks like HRC have gone over the storm with a fine tooth pick and made it what it should have been.

i have a 954 set up on mine, bars, forks, wheel, brakes, disc's, tripple clamps etc but would love a swing arm like yours!!

I get dual trip meters, a watch and a flashy blinky light to tell me when to switch gears... That's about it... All works as stock...

That's kind of the idea I have on looks... Not polished this or that, not flashy... Looks about stock, but is far from it... Most people that doesn't know how a VTR is supposed to look like can tell I have slip-ons and a couple of other details, but put it next too a stock bike and people start going "Huh?!"... I love that...

The swingarm isn't that hard to fit... About the same as the fork, so go for it...

BTW I just figured out that I have to solder of some SMD LED's and swap them to do that to my dash... Oh well... I'll get around to it once I get bored this winter...

Looks cool... how hard was it to open the headlight? Does it have the glue between the plastic housing and clear housing, or just a rubber seal with clips? Never dug that far.

not hard if you use a heat gun or hairdryer when you separate the two, there is a super super sticky silicone type stuff, when hot/warm it comes loose okay
