anybody debadged the hawk?
Toying with taking off the Honda and SuperHawk 996 stickers once i get the lower fairing painted.. if i keep it all blue...
Just wondering if anybody has done this, and has pictures they can post...
I think it would be kinda cool to have it completely debadged, have a lower fairing, intergraded tail light, flush mount fronts...
Narrow bike, all one color, no logo's.... nobody out there would know what it was, and everybody would underestimate the motor because being narrow, they would assume small..
just my thoughts...

The HONDA logo on the tank is under clearcoat, but hold a blow dryer on the SuperHawk 996 stickers and they peel off easily...when I peeled mine off, everyone thought it was under 600cc because it's so narrow.

After my crash I removed all the stock decals and ordered the "Firestorm" and "Force V2" emblems from the UK that come on the VTR1000 in the rest of the world. I deleted the Honda tank stickers and it looks great. (The bike is gunmetal grey with the silver emblems under clearcoat.) People don't know what the bike is and ask all the time.

what kind of exhaust is that? I like the short can, looks good.

1st.... the exhaust looks good...
2nd... I didn't realize the Honda logo was under the clear coat... hmmm.... But i think i may still remove the SuperHAwk stickers... Putting 250cc on it would be funny, but more so, because of the very differant sound of the V-Twin vs most inline's, it would be cool to have that bike that nobody know's exactly what it is... or what size it is... and yea, the narrow bike would surely get mistaken for small...

The exhaust is Supertrapp...the internal disc type....I cut them down to 12". They are way too loud, but I like the short look...this pic is from a while ago--the pipes are sitting in a box somewhere right now...I have M4 pipes now and they do the job just fine, but don't look as cool.
Here's a link on they proper way to shorten your cans...

I like not having any stickers on it, I think it looks nice and clean. I do get asked often what it is, people usually underestimate it, especially if they haven't heard it running, makes it a sleeper.

How do you guys get the HONDA logo off the tank...mine is under clearcoat. Are you repainting the bike or what?? (or are you using photoshop to confuse and mislead me) Either way, it looks good and stealthy.

After getting compliments on how good they look, I'm thinking about putting them back on. You could pick up a cheap pair of cans and DIY. Who cares if there's some road rash on them--you can possibly just cut that end off anyway. All you need is a access to a metal chop saw and a drill (and a riviter depending on the end caps).

It helps a lot if you lay the bike down and get a new paintjob. Although that isn't entirely recommended...I'm sure there's an easier way to do it than that.

I took off all the decals except the honda logo on the tank. Much better.
Used a hairdryer and a popsicle stick, lots of patience, and then plenty of ProHonda spray cleaner and polish to get the sticker residue off. Waaaay cleaner looking, IMHO.

Stickers on the side peel off easily when hot, Nice sunny hot day or as others said, just use a hair dryer and take your time. You can use dust tape to help remove any sticker adhesive left behind.
Main thing is to just take your time.

I got to tell you since i decided to convert my CRF450R to Street in the summer months the VTR has taken second fiddle to the Motard for bile of choice.
It is so much dang fun and light weight and eats the sportbikes alive in the turns.

On the graphics thread, I need a set of front "VTR" decals so I can repaint my front fairings and keep the stock look.. (i love the "VTR") I can't order form the states, i live in canada and no one here seems to know where to get them, any suggestions anyone?

I debadged my 98 since the previous owner had a parking lot laydown that scratched one of them up anyway. It looks much better without them anyway. I especially don't miss the "Superhawk 996" badge. I always thought it looked stupid.
oicdn, sorry, I can't see any VTR what with the MV taking up all my attention. inderocker, that bike is simply gorgeous.
