VTR Of The Month - November 2009 - WINNER: VTS!
#34
Ok, I'll play
This bike was built in '05 in a period of 6 weeks, from the time it went on the lift completely stock to when I rode it to work with the following mods:
Starting at the front, working back.
2005:
954 front wheel,forks and gauges.
599 headlight.
Homemade bar risers with handle bars of unknown origin.
Heated grips. ( yes, I'm a comfortable wuss )
ZRX-6 oil cooler with fittings made from Kawasaki/Honda/Lowe's parts.
K&N airfilter with adjustable needles and stock mains and pilots.
CBR600RR footpegs.
Big Ruckus battery box.
VTX1800 underseat radiator.
Ventilated Rear seat cowl
Speedo healer to make the gauges work.
2007:
Penske Shock
VFR fuel tank with home made fuel pump block off plate.
Added second cooling fan after raising the seat.
Adjustable thermo switch to run the fan.
RC51 mufflers ( weigh less, look and sound better )
Acerbis Uniko Handguards (go well with heated grips)
2009:
Figured out how to run the passenger footpegs with the RC51 mid mount pipes ( so I can take my kids for rides )
I started with a completely stock VTR, sold all the fairing parts, the stock gauges and front end to finance the project.
Learned a whole bunch in the process and have been riding it for the past 4 years with no problems whatsoever.
There, I fixed it.
Wish I could add more pics, though.

I never warmed up to the side mounted solution, it just looked haphazard to me.
After I posted pics of mine in '05, I found out that one had been built in Germany in either '03 or '04, with a beautifully done ducting set up.
Turns out he couldn't make it work and went to a front mounted radiator off an early VFR750, I believe.
Mine's been working just fine for about four years and 20,000 miles now.
No leaks and no overheating.
and some more pics...

Yep, a fine collection of contenders this time around I must say.... hard to pick a winner. My personal faves are Cliby`s, Greg`s and VTS (but all are worthy winners). Best luck to all and congrats to all on a job well done

Kai ju got the nod for me. The bike is so well thought out and executed and has been an inspiration and help to many others. And I don't even want a naked Hawk.
In a normal month I could easily have chosen VTS's, Hawkrider's or Cliby's bikes. All are highly modified, but done with great execution. By far the toughest VTROTM choice ever.

Just didn't seem right to vote for myself.

I have to admit I'm surprised at the lack of votes in this poll.
There have been over a thousand views yet there are less than 50 votes.............unless it's the same people looking at it over and over.
If you're visiting, vote, it's your right and obligation, damn it.
This is like going to the polls, waiting in line and then not voting.
Kai Ju,
P.S.
Oh yeah, if you're voting, vote for me.
Can I do that ?
And get away with it ?

Vote for me and I'll send you an Otter pop of your flavor of choice. I will post a pic of said pops shortly to prove I have the product and can back it up. Just PM me with your address. Of course I have to win to pay out, otherwise I get to wallow in sorrow with only my bike and a box of pops to comfort me.
I wouldn't be too hurt if you voted for Pedro. He can back it up too, and he's not a bad guy really.

vts, aren't you already in the lead?? now with otter pops too? its too much I tell you.
and poor me with my beaten down ( faster), used, worn out (lighter), faired (never crashed), older (better handling) superhawk and yellow (oh, fastest color by far), do not stand a chance and will fall even further behind! Otter pops! I will have to offer original Moon pies! or maybe modded moon pies!

I see you fetched a pic off the net for your moon pie bribe. Do you actually have a box of moon pies in the waiting, or will it be another season of unfulfilled campaign promises?
I fear you have spent far too much on your bike and left no money in the budget for the little guy.
I'm thinking your bike is probably faster, not sure about lighter (wheels?), has better wind protection, better handling (rear shock, for now), and is safer to ride on (read; YELLOW), and you also might have something with the moon pies being more in season in Nov compared to my summertime Otter pop treats.
One could leave them in the freezer until next year, and they can double as a cold pack when needed.
Oops just got a little off track. My point was to poke back at Kai ju and bust his nuggets (I've known him personally for some time and he deserves a good ribbing, seriously!)
Anyways best of luck Cliby, I admire your bike and what you have done. Like I told you before don't sell it, what would you replace it with?
What exactly are "modded" moon pies. Or do I not want to know?

All I can say is Shuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! There is no way I can choose only one of these unbelievable bikes, mostly because I'm in awe of these machines and the amazing people who created them. To participate on this forum is a privilege you can't take for granted when you witness this extraordinary display that only attests to what great people can do with a great bike.
to all of you!!! I just wanna push the control button and vote for everyone.

thanks VTS, you know I love your bike also, its very cool. as to the modded moonpies, I have not lived in the south for quite a long time and I was recently in nashville so was surprised to find the double and mini moon pies! I'm sure these aren't new, I had just never seen them before. crazy. like a single moon pie wasn't enough!

Screw both of you! I'll send BEER! And not the cheap **** either. It'll be a bottle of Sam Adams. PM me if you want to change your vote. I have the ability to change poll numbers, though I haven't messed with them.....yet.
#55
I would like to change the last 20 votes - from VTS and Hawkrider to ME! muahahaha, muahahaha.
#56
That's what I thought. I picked you for the target demographic with the otter pops. Do you think I bought them for me?
Beer is great and all, but you can ingest as many otter pops as you like and ride the daylights out of your hawk, safely and legally.
Hawkrider didn't you consult legal first? Bad move dude, the ramifications could be huge.
If anyone wants beer, stop on by. Olympia is on the way to wherever you may be going. It's the hub of these there United States. I even have a case of Oly beer in the short bottles. (Now defunct but alright stuff.) You don't even have to vote for my bike.
Hawkrider if you mess with the votes I'll shoot you...with a Nerf gun.

VTS, does Olympia Beer still exist? I used to buy Oly by the case at the Navy Exchange on Skaggs Island Naval Radio Station in 1967, several months before I turned 21. The girl never carded me.
And I looked about 17.
I'm not saying who I voted for, but I do like Sam Adams Boston Lager.

The Olympia brewery was shut down just a few short years ago. My wife's dad worked there for 24 years, it really sucks to drive by it everday and see it mothballed. Oly beer is not being made anymore.
I do have Sam Adams, microbrews, Coors, and even a Guiness currently in the fridge. So come on' down. VTRsurfer you're welcome to stop by. Oly was just one option.
