Re: Streetfighter VTR
I've only rode the bike for about 20 miles since taking the pictures but it seems OK temperature wise, I did give the bike a good thrashing in that time.
I think the rad looks too wide which spoils the look of the bike from the front, I have decided to modify the left hand VTR rad and place it there since it's far smaller. I'm almost certain there will not be enough cooling potential at that point but I am then going to try and fit a second larger rad in series with this one and fit it under the seat hump. I'm lucky since I have masses of room under there since doing away with my old underseat exhaust that everything was designed to make space for.
I know I will have masses of issues then but I just have to see if I can make it work!

The tank is one Kiyo Watanabe's finest..... I am actually selling it since I got the original one covered in carbon to match the rest of the bike.
I don't need the large capacity and it kind of spoilt the lines of the streetfighter look.

Re: Streetfighter VTR
It was always fine for me and I was always 100% happy with the price I got it for.
The replacement is not as nice but I just need to recoup some of the cash I threw at the bike once upon a time.
I will put it on ebay and hope to get £500 for it.

There's some nice work there....like the look of the black frame & carbon frame protectors
Have you considered alloy braided hoses for the radiator & oil lines? Now you can see the motor, I think it would look pretty trick..

The oil lines are already braided and I will get round to the water lines once I know where I am going.
I have just modified the VTR left radiator which now sits at the front of the bike and will try and fit a second one under the seat unit to help cool things a little.

Re: Streetfighter VTR
I've actually reduced the size of the radiator and used the left side VTR with a few modification. I'm amazed but it works fine on it's own at the moment although the mep has been lower than 20C at the moment so will have to do more reasearch when it gets hotter.

Daz,
Your redesign makes for about the meanest looking VTR on the planet. Great job!
I'm interested in your bars. Did you mod the stock top triple or is that a new setup? What bars did you end up using?

Re: Streetfighter VTR
I could not use the standard triple clamps since I am running Ducati 916 spec Showa USD forks that are about 10mm wider than standard forks.
I initially thought about modifying the 916 triples but decided on a new custom set of billet that kept the angles a little better than modified ones.
Fitting the Renthals was then dead easy since I had a nice flat surface to mount the bar risers to.
Oh and a quick update on the radiator..........wow it works great, I really can't believe that it works so well!
So I now have the dilema of what to do with all that space under my back end.... I guess I will just have to put a couple of cans under there again!

Re: Streetfighter VTR
Well I have done over 500 miles with the single radator and I have to say that I am pleased with the results. The bike has been used in most conditions up to 30C with no real problems. It sits all day at about 1/4 on the temp guage unless you sit ages with the engine running.
I was stuck at a set of lights for about 3-5 mins and the guage went up yo 1/2 but dropped down to 1/4 within a couple of miles of riding again.
So I'm one happy man.
