Rearsets started
Started my rearsets today. Cut from 1/4" 4042 Aluminum plate sanded and filed into shape. I wish I had a mill. Also fixed up the brake arm and pivot.

Looks great. One question though: the tab for the footpeg, is that large hole causing a problem? What kind of finish will you go for with the rearset, or will you keep it as is?

Thanks surfer. So I finished the other side, now I need to make a shift linkage assembly from scratch. Woo hoo, then on to a tank seat and cowl. Also I will be fabing up the inside assembly to hold all the electrical bits under the seat.

here we go again, so I took this mess of electrical...
tore it all off of the bracket it was on until it was individual components then I made a tray...
made some mounts attached them to the aluminum basin and finished like this.
then the seat pan will cover it all up. What do you think?

Need advice.
Alright so opinions would be nice on this, I could go either way.
Here is the gauge now.
I can print a new face on sticker paper so I have two options, on white sticker or on clear. This is the gauge without a face so I would make a plexi face and put the clear sticker with numbers on it. So imagine this photo with numbers and that would be what you would get.
Or same thing but with a white backround like this
Please help me decide thanks.

Well, since it's a kick start, you don't need a big battery to start the engine... Why not use Li-ion cells like in a RC car and make a flat battery pack and stick it under that tray... Nice and hidden, nobody will figure it out... Needs a charging circuit for that though, so you keep spikes and such of the battery... Nothing complicated...

Nice, here is a pic of mine (a sohc cb650 cam will drop right in and CB 750 carbs work well - I have a lot of engine mods all for not a lot of money - send me a PM if you are interested):

Jim, that is very nice. I had a Telefix fork brace on my '78 CX500, necessary if you want to do fast corners. The speed wobbles before the Telefix weren't fun.

Great stuff, Jim! I am very interested in restoration. Especially with breeds like the Superhawk. Huge horsepower, huge reliability, stylist look.
I've been looking around in the CB series and I watch what Capt Chaos is doing. He's had a good one off this year.
Maybe stripping a ST1100 or 13 is the project for me. There's so many platforms.
Excellent job on yours. Looks like you park with some sporty company.

I thought about that too. I will be able to fit about 6 versions on one printable so I will print multiple versions and see which one I like the best.
