My bike (love it or hate it)
Don't say I didn't warn you :P
I got it cheap as it had been down a ditch, I don't like spending money and needed a bike to ride to a rally 150 miles away so I set-to and fixed it in 3 days using only stuff I had laying around in the shed/garden.
Bike features a CB250 rear lamp and a mini bates headlamp (which sucks), new seat made from the tail plastic from a CB250 rs widened with some tin plate and padded with a bit of sponge mounted on a cutdown rear subframe.
Monday at 4pm
Thursday at 4pm
CUSTOM PARTS:
Repaired front mudguard that was smashed to bits with some aluminium plate:
And 'stiched' with wire:
Custom 'spacers' added to take up the slack in the circlip that holds the exhaust on:
Secondary radiator feed blocked off with a 17mm socket and a bolt, bolt leaked like hell so I made a washer from an old bit of innertube. Oil cooler moved to higher position and secured in place with some old wire. New radiator mounts made from a strip of metal laying in the garden:
Airlock removed from rad pipe using tape to pull it lower:
Secondary exhaust pipe capped with a washer and a bit of an old bicycle frame:
Broken brake lever fixed with two bits of plate and a couple of bolts:
Bent gear lever repaired in similar manner:
Back from the dead.
oooo nearly forgot, had this fairing laying about for a while, might well end up on it if I can be arsed to fit it.

Thanks, the rad is just the normal one from the right hand side (you can see it in it's old position in the first pic) it's mounted with a couple of bits of flat bar bolted to the frame (it's plenty solid)

Not a fan of Mad Max then?, thats where the fairing idea came from.
Thanks for the positive comments, reakon I might have to write 'all go and no show' on it somewhere 'cos that sums it up nicely

I say loose the fairing, its way cooler the other way, and actually after your rally if you button up some of the stuff you did as a quicker fix I think the look would be pretty awesome.

the faring looked for **** on the bikes it was OEM on. keep it off and you got you self a kick *** bike and if the levers work, screw it keep em' on. gives the bike character.

Still got quite a few things to do to it, as it stands it was a rush job to get me to the rally:
Still to do:
Fit home made luggage rack to front mudguard (from my old bike)
Fit two nice big 7" headlamps or that big ugly fairing, dunno yet.
Fit a rear-rack for luggage, or maybe a sissy bar like on my old bike (great for
carrying luggage)
Make and fit an engine cage, basic functional one made from 1" box section.
Fill in the rear wheel.
Fit the animal spine and ammo-can tool box from my old bike.
Fit some fork gaiters made from an old innertube.
Fix the steering problem, which may or may not be frame related?!?

What's kinda funny is normally any of those "mods" would have people ripping you to shreds.... but since it's so over the top, people like it... including me!!!
Definitley lose the fairing... sell it on EBAY and buy a case of black primer with the cash to touch your bike up when needed instead of washing it!!!

I don't really like chrome, or anodised bits or spending time/money washing/polishing my bike but I can appreciate why other people do, each to their own
If you like this one you'll probably like my other bike too, I'll bung another thread up with a photo of it.

Nice hacking! It's great when people are not afraid to get in there and make it work. I'd say if you want to keep the fairing cut it down to a 1/4 fairing size. Or you can get some really cheap shield only fairings in the UK from outfits like getgeared.co.uk. That would give it more of a modern street figher look.

I love your bike and your " I don't care what anybody else thinks about my bikes " attitude.
Wish I had the ***** to do something like that but I'm way to ****. Everything has to be just so.
Having said that, please take the fairing off ! It kills the whole effect.
As you can see from my Avatar I like my bikes naked.
I like the Hawk as well, nice touch with the bare bones on display in one of the shots.
Keep up the irreverent work.

"I'm also trying to join the UK firestorm forum but they never reply to my emails"
I tried to join it too. They are a snooty lot. When they repliedm they wanted an essay. I thought to myself, "**** off"

I definitely like it, it's an économical way to give a second life to this bike, but as said before don't fall back between the tire and the frame, il looks like this thing can rip your nuts off and shove it up your butt in a split second
