The first mod is to take all of the street bodywork and tank off and wrap them up and tuck them away.
Then it's wheels, tires, rear sets, wiring harness, 1/6 turn throttle, airbox, intake snorkel, steel front brake lines, used Sharkskinz, chain, sprockets, some more front supension tuning and dyno work to tune for the airbox.
I've been collecting parts for a year. It already has an Ohlins shock and Moriwaki suspension linkage, as well as pistons and head work.
It's been a long time coming!
It's an '02 SP-2. It belonged to a good friend of mine. He had a tear in his eye as I drove away.

You got that right. About 80mph she feels happy. I went down one in the front to tame the warp speed first gear. Perfect bike for the track, funny thing is I only see one if any at every trackday I go to. Guess too many people use them as garage queens instead of track kings.

2002? Really? I don't recognize the paint scheme as an '02. I had an 02 and it was completely different. The Honda wing would normally be black for most years RC51. Custom paint or graphics maybe?
Nice bike though! I see Mori cans, Sargent seat, CF fairing louver thingies, ZG windscreen, aftermarket levers, yellow kevlar lines, Pilot Powers, and probably has a PCII, soft rev limiter and flapper mods done. All good stuff for the big brother.
[edit] Aha! Can't forget the "Nicky mod" too!

How do you see the difference between 02 and 04 bodywork?
I thought that the 02-06 bodywork was identical as the rest of the bike? Just different paint schemes...
The 00-01 are different though...

It's a TapeWorks sticker kit.
I'll take some more photos when I get it set up in the garage.
It's almost surreal. I think I had convinced myself that it wouldn't really happen.
Thanx for all the positive feedback. It's a good (great) starting point.
I've known the bike since it was brand new. Dean bought it while nursing a broken arm from crashing his Super Hawk.

I took a few in the garage before I started taking it apart.
they aren't the greatest:
The bike had just over 15k when I built the engine. He bought a bicycle. I had a big crash in front of him. He didn't ride it much since:
Torque comes from mass air flow!
these ports looked huge until you view them through GIGANTIC throttle bodies:
