Carsten from Germany

Hi,

I would like to introduce myself with a little pic from my Super Hawk ... we call it FireStrom in Europe.

Normally I'm a member of the German Super Hawk forum, but I want to find new ideas for customizing and I think here is teh right place....

Here are two pictures of my Super Hawk, an old one and one new mod I made for the next Trip trough the Alps and with my new SBK handle bar Kit from LSL.

Notice: the handle bar risers you use are totally not allowed in Germany ..

Best regards,

Carsten...

THX a lot ... But I'm still working on it .. next mod is the tail turn lights .. I will use special Kellermann turn lights.
After that I will attach a carbon fender for the rear and for the front.

The last step will be to increase the power by special carburet modifications which are very simple.

But most of the changes here in Germany have to be confirmed by a special government division or test center .. we call it TÜV.

Wie geht's? Great bike, Carsten! The color is unique to the EU?

I've got a Givi setup on my bike, using their 'universal' wing rack. What do you have on yours? Is made for the Firestorm, or did you 'Gerry rig' it? (Sorry, I couldn't miss having some fun. Also, can you still ride two-up with it?

Regarding the new bars ... why doesn't Germany allow bar risers like you've seen here? Is it the altered upper triple clamp?

Good to meet ya!

Hallo Chickenstrip,

kann ja Deutsch mit dir sprechen, oder?
Just kidding The color of my bike was only available for Models between 2001 and 2002, but I dont know if only in EU.
The rack you can see on my bike is a Hepco and Becker rack. The Top Case rack is original from hepco made for VTR1000F.
But for the side siutcases I've never seen a ack and here is nothing available for the VTR.
So I used a rack from another bike and weld it to the one you can see.

Normally the rack is only for my summer vacation, every year i drive trough the Alps for 10 days and I hate luggage rols ...
It was half a day with welding and testing, but now it works quite fine.

Regarding the SBK mod, here in Germany you have to use expensive certificated kits for such modification. Expensive means about 400-500 $ including the certificate that youre allowed to drive with it.
The one you can see is from LSL and yes, its a alterned tripple upper clamp.

Welcome to the Forum. Did you have to modify your fairing for the bars? What area in Germany are you located? Was stationed in Mannhiem for 3yrs, had my 87 FJ1200 with me @ the time. Loved riding in Germany.

Willkommen Carsten, jetzt kann Ich mein Deutsch wieder ein bisschen ueben.

Thank you all for the nice welcome ... it seems that this VTR Forum is as good and freindly as the VTR forum in Germany ... so it must have something to do with the great bike from Honda ...

Yes, I had to modify the fairing, but only a little bit. My girl freind (she's driving a FZ1000) diddn't noticed that I cut the fairing ... so it semms to be good

@kai ju:

But youre right, the fuel range sucks - but the highest distance in the alps was 254km without standstill .... I think thats enough ... :-)

regarding the color, it seems that this color was really never available in the US?!?!?! ... My first choice was flat black, but now I'm glad to have dark blue ... I saw many older flat black (or gun powder) bikes here in germany and after several years the color turned into polished ugly black ...
