Question Shift kit??

I have been looking at shift kits, Factory Pro offers two. One with the shift star, and one without. My search only found threads on the star kit, anyone know the difference once installed other than the $105 difference. Also should I have special tools lined up. I've read about people braking clutch baskets and/or bolts.

I installed the detent arm kit (with spring), optin against the Shift Star. The bike shifts quite well but, in hindsight, I should have gone whole hog and gotten the Star too (as you`re already in there, so to speak). I have since ordered a Shift Star ($130 when ordred separately) and will have it put in with my rebuild at some point in the future. Take my experience for what it`s worth.....

If you use the correct tools, you won't have a problem damaging/breaking the clutch basket.

Use the whole kit, the detent arm by itself made little difference IMHO. Very slick shifting with the whole kit installed.. Then add a DMr shifter shifter from and your all set.

Buy or make clutch basket tool.. doing without or using a screw driver, pry bar, ect ect.. will often result in a broken basket or hub.

You know that bearing is sitting on the bench mocking me at this very moment.. I'm in the shop right now working on another bike and getting ready to clear the lift to put the SH on and change some jets.... The bike shifts so well now.. the shifter MOD has not gotten to the top of the priority list yet..

O.K. going to do the complete kit. From the Haynes manual the clutch holder looks easy to make, is there any thing else I should consider before starting.
