need help with carb hoses :-(
Hey all, been rebuilding my hawk with one of my brothers and need some help running the carb vacuum lines and hoses. My brother did the carb removal and I got left with the re-install, ugh. Anyway, I need a bit of help and expertise in dummy terms as to where some of the lines go. First of all, the fittings under the float bowls, where do they get hooked to? Second of all, what gets hooked to the small fittings next to the coolant inlets on the motor? and thirdly, where does the fitting on the rear carb in one of the pictures get plumbed to? Sorry for all the questions but Im still learning the ins and out of this hawk and my poor quality service manual hasnt been much help.

That second one is your vacuum line... it runs to the small rear nipple on your petcock assembly that is attached to your gas tank.
The first on is a coolant line. If I'm looking at it right, it's the one that runs to your water pump (the small hose on the side of your right engine case.

Just cap the front cylinder... it's only there for syncing the carbs. The rear cylinder has the T fitting (and the foot of the T is capped when not syncing the carbs there as well)

Can't remember on the first hose... you're probably right, thermostat doesn't sound correct. There's a pretty intricate diagram of the coolant flow in the manual though. I managed to hook it all up with that:

There should be 2 coolant lines to the carbs one to the front and one to the rear. If you need to know where they are coming from just pull out the service manual and look at the cooling system, though it should be obvious where they go due to the length of the hoses.
