OK so this issue I'm having I'm not even sure what to call it and hope that I can describe it . It started with this thread Losing Power (title edited) - SuperHawk Forum which was a totally separate issue and has been resolved. Now I am noticing something interesting... when cruising, if I hit a bump, usually the seams on the freeway (some of those can be doozies especially after winter or any Minnesota road in general) the bike pops like it missed... Like I said earlier I'm not sure how to describe this one so any help, thought or idea's would be awesome right about now.

 

Probably a "carb fart" (backfire through the carbs), especially if you rolled off the throttle a little after hitting the bump. This can be somewhat resolved through some carb work. Lots of info on the Forum related to carb issues. But basically nothing to worry about. Carb farts happen with big bore V-twins.

 

Well that is another problem that is a bit hard to figure out over the net.
Though the fuel level in the float bowl is important to how the carb works. So what might be happening is you are sloshing the fuel in the float bowls hard enough to cause a momentary problem from time to time.

Though it could also be something else (maybe ignition related) cutting out due to the extreme bouncing. So you might want to check the grounds and all connectors to make sure they are tight and clean.

Check for loose battery terminal connections. We've seen a few bikes in our shop that exhibited the exact same traits as you describe (misfire/pop over bumps) and they all turned out to be a simple battery terminal bolt not tightened down properly.

 

And while you are at it, go over the sidestand switch... Hit a har enough bump and if that's loose, it will momentarily cut power, causing a misfire...

 

Thanks Tweety! That's the first thing I'm gonna check... I have noticed that the side-stand isn't quite as "springy" as it once was.
