I had a lady at work tell me that she wanted to start riding, and that she thought she should start on a "little" bike like mine. She followed that up with the question "Is that the 250 or a 600?"

Then more recently, I had my neighbor pull up to my driveway on his brand new CBR1000RR that he had only had a few days. He asked me if I wanted to go riding with him now that he had a bike, so of course I said yes. Then he asked me what type of Ducati I had. When I told him it was the type of Ducati that is actually a 13 year old Honda, he seemed to get a little annoyed with me. He hasn't spoken to me since.

Sounds like you wouldn't have had too much fun riding with him anyway. He'll probably crash it soon... First bike?

ok so today after finally having a little time to swap the rear bearings, I'm working on my bike in front of the apartment and this woman out of no where comes over and says "hey nice bike"....... and then she asks..... "is it a Harley?" no shitting folks hahahhaha Then after having it assembled I take it for a spin and I end up falling in behind some guy on a 600rr and we stop at a light and he stops short so he can take a look at the machine, he seems puzzled and amazed at the same time and asks "is that a ducati?" I"m thinking to myself this guy is either really stupid or can't read..... my bike has all the factory decals and writing on the machine still weird day huh?!

Yeah, what ever happened to the power of observation.

In the early '80s my first bike was a 1978 CX500, modded for canyon racing by the PO, a Honda tech. At least twice, guys on other bikes asked me if it was a Moto Guzzi. Although it was stripped down and painted solid black, it had the huge chrome letters on the side of the tank that read...HONDA.

The best is when we get to the top of a canyon, and I have been chasing the GSXR1k's, CBR1k's and the like. They look at my bike and say "I thought that was a Ducati from how it sounds! That thing is fast!"

I look and say, "Naw, it's just how I ride it." I think to myself "you guys are just slow, learn how to ride your bike stooopid!"

I was at a stunt show at a local cycle shop over the weekend. It's funny how all the younger riders are checking out a bone stock 600rr while all of the older guys are drooling over my superhawk. I was thinking hmm i must have mature taste in bikes lol.

Not Hawk related but I had a guy tell me once he just got his ZX-7 back after having a new powerband installed. He said his old one got stretched out of shape. Yeah, I though, just like your bunghole.

Dimwit: "hey, your bike sounds different then most crotch rockets"
Me: " yeah, its a v-twin, not an inline 4"
Dimwit: " oh, its a 2-stroke, huh?"
Me:....... where do I start?

The other comment I hate is when someone who is admiring my bike, and I suggest they get one.
"Oh, I couldn't buy one of those, they are so fast I'd kill myself"
The only response I have come up with is " ya know, they go slow, too"

I had a guy probably in his twenties looking at my bike and after seeing the 996 sticker and the Micron exhaust he said " do you think your bike is up to a 1000 with the exhaust? " I had no clue how to answer that.

You should have said, "Man, thats a micron exhaust, it atomizes fuel way better than any other exhaust on the market, its probably around an 1100 now"

I had a Hawk GT for about 12 years. The other side of the swingarm was always on back order.

That part must be similar to a left handed smoke shifter in Boy Scout terms.

Co-worker (after seeing my bike in person) asks me later if it's just a Nighthawk or a Super Nighthawk.

Regretably I did not have the immediate presence of mind to inquire if his full dress Harley was a Wide-ster or a Fat-Glide...

some of you delusional yellow bellies think that because you are in front of a red one, you're faster. What you don't realize is you're are so much slower you're being lapped by one of those hyper-fast red ones, i.e., the ones with the intelligent handsome skillful pilots.
