What's the dumbest thing anyones ever said/asked about your Hawk or Gear?

One of my favorite conversations that pops to mind though is when I called Thunder Cycle (of Discovery Channel fame) to get some custom welding done on it. They asked "what kind of bike is it?" I asked "what difference does it make, I need you to weld aluminum-aluminum is aluminum, and my money spends just the same. It's a Honda." He replied "We only work on V-Twins." I said "Great! When can I bring it in?"

I had someone I just met who saw me ride in say the same thing, albeit he had a v-rod which under professional handling runs the quarter nearly identical to the hawk. I would still betcha its easier to go 0 to 100 with your feet underneath you instead of way way out front .

"Your bike doesn't sound right. Is there something wrong with it?" As they get off their cookie cutter GSXRCBRZX600... "Yeah, it's only running on two cylinders. It's funny that way..." I say as my friends all laugh at their stupidity...
Or...
"Why didn't you get a CBR or a Gixxer?"
Response: "Because I didn't want to be like all you guys."
If I have to explain they would never unserstand...

I had a guy on a Hardley V-Rod say about the same thing... When he said it the umpteenth time I got fed up...
My reply? "I'll follow you down the straigth, you follow me through the twisities... If we are still both on the road lets have this discussion again..."
He was faster than me on the straight... And then he tried to outbrake me into the first corner, when survival instincts kicked in and he let of the throttle... At that point I wasn't even off the throttle yet... dunno if he was trying or not after that... I wasn't and I was way ahead when the road straightened out... He didn't stop to talk... just kept going and not looking at me...
His friends stopped though... The wanted to know if I had been flat out or not...

Being over 50, it is always fun to watch the expressions when I hop on the SH.
They always ask why I would want to ride one of those crotch rockets instead of a cruiser and I respond with a quick burnout and a wheelie.
Try that on your Sportster with ape hangers.

I am certain if you hung around the poser-boys for any length of time you could fill a book with their comments (they being so wise in the ways of motorcycling after all, hence their decision to ride around on slow, ill-handling and uncomfortable paint-mixers)....

"Don't you get hot in those leather pants & jacket in this heat?"
Well, I guess that isn't really a stupid question. Really isn't that bad though as long as you don't stick around in one place very long.

No matter how hot it is, I ride with boots, gloves. helmet and leather jacket. I love the guys who lean out the window and ask me "aren't you hot in there? I tell them no, I've got the air conditioner on, just like the astronauts.

21 Y/O coworker: "It shouldn't be called a 1000 if its only 996cc"
haha yeah my buddy Fencer showed me that thread a few weeks ago. The guy with the KTM is actually a pretty nice guy on the phone aside from the fact he seemed to like talking over me (I hate it when people do that). Could of been our cell phone reception though. But yeah some of those guys were quick to dog the ole Hawk. Typical of the RR crotchboyz.
In any case I think the guy with the KTM is wanting a more track-oriented bike. I told him regardless of what bike he buys, if its going to see the track its going to need some suspension and be set-up. He is shopping elsewhere. I have something lined up hopefully with a guy in Louisiana (on a sloww bike compared to the Hawk lol) but I'm not counting my chickens til they hatch. Been dealing with a lot of flakers on the Hawk.
Sometimes our beloved Superhawk just gets no respect ! Like we already know , you ether love em or hate em . This is a thread from another forum I am a member of ......http://www.blokessportbike.com/showthread.php?t=39850 The bike the guy is considering trading with is a current SH forum member (Hacknslash) and his bike looks awesome !

Ugh I ******* hate when people say that. I had a friend watch a guy in front of him tip over while sitting still on his Harley. He didn't have a helmet on, hit is head, and DIED. People think you only get hurt by going really really fast. I always say how the hell can a cruiser be safer? It's less manueverable, has half the brakes and weighs twice as much. A moron can ride a cruiser just as reckless as a sportbike. Sure a sportbike goes faster but that's completely up to the rider and their maturity level. Ever try to stop short on a Harley? Thank you...Safer my ***.

A lot of Harley guys don't ride 1,000 miles per year. You must not like your bike very much if you don't ride it. Either that or they don't want to get any bugs on the chrome.

I must be lucky or have missed all the *********. About the "worst" thing anyone has said is "that's a nice bike, what is it?"
The funniest thing I see is when I pull up for fuel and HD riders do the usual arrogant non speaking crap, till I pull my helmet off and then they realise "****, that guys as old as us!" After that, most of them will say gday and start talking bikes.
Most of em, but not all.

Same here. Where I ride, my bike doesn't even get noticed at all. Many of the riders are on the latest exotics for everyone to drool over and ask about. If I get any comments on it all, they are along the lines of.. "I rode a buddy's and was suprised" or "I had one of those". Good folks for the most part if a bit condesending.
The squids on GSXRs and CBRs, that seem too make the most lame comments, keep to themselves pumping fists in the air for their buddys doing stunts in the middle of the road.

haven't gotten any really dumb ones yet. about the dumbest was when I rolled in to work and a co-worker asked me, "is it fast?" no, I like bikes that make alot of noise and don't go anywhere. duh, oh, I think I just just insulted the whole HD community. oops, sorry you like to ride crap. didn't mean to shine the spotlight... on your crap.... harley sucks.
