2004 here. Got it earlier this year. PO abused her really bad. I even found two different plugs in. Whole bunch of vacuum lines not attached. the rear air funnel was floating underneath the seat when i got it and a laundry list of missing parts. All you forum guys have helped me getiin her running better, i think i still have a ways to go though.

BTW My bike was on the road 10'th of June in 97 and it was by no means the first bike delivered/registered...

My SH was manufactured in February of 1997 VIN # 000453 and is a 1998 model.
I thought Honda released these in March of 1997 as early release 1998 models in the US.
Am I missing something here?

Here there actually was a model year of 97, with the first out on the roads late in the 96 season... (Freeze your ***** of late, but never the less...)
Altough the main batch was delivered early 97...

That's exactly correct. There were IIRC 250k to 350k bikes sold in 98. There are no 97's. Even if they were manufactured in '97 none of them made it to the states before Jan 98 so all of the first year were 98's. By 99 production dropped to half that and by the end it was down to 40-70k bikes a year.

I have a fast (red) 02. sorry Im lame with no pictures except whats in my avitar. I have done some miner tweeks to the looks of the bike since when I bought it so it looks better than the avitar pic.

I see the '05's have picked up a couple more members since I last checked. +1 for what I like to call "Stealth Gray".
Yesterday at a gas station on our way back from San Diego (my bike needed gas not my wife's SV650S), the guy inside at the counter asked my wife what kind of bike mine was. His Yamaha R1 was parked outside. I like that.
