and i do it sometimes to in REALLY hot weather,
but anyway nice sound man
those pipes also look really good and sound different, are they from a gsxr 1000 ?
if i do that with my phone or camera is gone by the time i came back
I rode my hawk thru quite heavy rain today home from work
had wheel spin at 160 km/h and then some undercover cop in hurry past me with sirens... waving his arm like : you idiot
but in my defence... above 130 km my sight is clear
i hope i didnt get fine it certainly not will be the first or last

flame me all you want, that was taken @ 2 am and the temperature was above 90F, I know it's a bad choice but sometimes feeling comfortable on the bike might save more than a Dainese leather jacket in the middle of summer.
And yes, they're from a GSXR :P

Jonah,
I have been to Athens on more than one occasion and totally understand where you're at.
The bike scene there is different to where I am from, however it gets bloody hot here at the height of summer and I too sometimes go for a ride in nothing more than T-Shirt, boots and jeans.
Lucky I haven't had an off when dressed like that and totally understand how oppressive full regalia can be when it's so hot that it is hard to breath when you are on a bike.
I would like to say keep cool, however that is a bit hard where you are.
Enjoy your Storm, it's a rare beast in your part of the world!

Back on 9/19/99, it was a hot day and I didn't wear my jacket. This was the one time I crashed. I have road rash on the back of my right shoulder to remind me to never do that again. However, wounds heal and chicks dig scars. Food for thought.

The bike scene is so different in so many aspects that honestly I'm considering starting a vlog just for that. What in your side (or every other european side, as far as I know) counts as a "close call", or a red light run, here is just a normality.
As for the Storm, there are 5 or 6 more in Athens and about 20 to 30 in the entire country. So yeah, I'll take good care of her

Made up an excuse to ride down to Woodinville to check out the dealership there. Got some new chain lube which is claimed not to leave black boogers all over the rear half of the bike. The real reason I went down was to look for the other end of curvy High Bridge road and come back that way. I had a lot of fun just exploring the local backroads on the Hawk. Eventually I found High Bridge but it was the end nearest me. I still went down and back but not all the way to Woodinville.
I kept pretty cool on the trip. I was wearing a new Tourmaster Draft mesh jacket. It breathes pretty well; I only felt the heat when stopped at a light. I won't ride now unless I'm wearing some protection. You should always carry protection, you never know when you'll need it. I cringe when I think about when I used to ride 50 miles in a t-shirt and cutoffs to go swimming.
VTR1000F, wait til you taste the sweet ambrosia of installing LED turn signals, especially on the faster red SuperHawk.
Nice sounding exhaust Jonar.

Rode to work on Friday - loaded to bear - It looked like I was running away from home.
Then rode to my buddies outside NYC and had a great night with him & his Cockblocking brother and another dude.
Cab dropped me back at his place @ 3am - Ouch
Then just lounged around his place today outside listening to muzak.
Then met up with my nephew and rode him back to my house via backroads.
About 140 miles. Awesome day - thru Orange Cty, NY and Sussex Cty, NJ.
I've not ridden 2 up in awhile & now I know why I don't do it, he's 13, but a big kid, 5'9" 160lbs.
great time

Checked fuel mileage since carb mods and Dr Honda stacks installed.. Results inconclusive but no apparent difference. I get about 32 mpg on average. Got 33.3mpg today 2.99 gallons on a 100 mile distance. Still have some idle mixture work to do. Bike still will not idle right till fully warmed. But it runs great on the road!

Went for a short hour and half ride. In that time I saw 12, yeah 12 LEO's. Monday is not the day to ride. Went home and changed the oil. WARNING!! OIL THREAD. Filled with Rotella T5 15W-40. Last change was Chevron Delo 15W-40. Not impressed with the shifting quality. Usually use Rotella Triple protect 15W-40. I'm saving up ($50 oil change, ouch) for a try at Mobile 1 if the T5 doesn't work better than the Rotella Triple.

Today I just got back from a ride down to Mt Rainier National Park and back. I would have stayed longer but was chased away by thunderstorms. The Hawk was its usual loveable self and gave me no problems at all.

Installed some high mount Jardine RT-1's (black). Thanks again Kendrick!
I think I have a picture...
(Yes, I know that I need to hit the rest of the bike with primer and then paint the bike. I just don't have the time to wok on stuff like I used to. When I do have time, I just want to ride instead if work on it.)

Thanks man. Compared to the stock exhaust with bafflectomy, they are LOUD! My buddy said it sounds a little quieter than straight headers, but has a fantastic performance sound to it.
They have a nice deep rumble while idling and cruising around, but as soon as you hit the throttle, it gets loud and has a kind of crack to each exhaust pulse. I absolutely love the sound of these pipes! Never going back to stock. People crane thier necks when you crack the throttle. It's pretty cool. Even a couple Harley buddies had smirks on thier faces.
I adjusted the carbs like this:
Pilots: 50 (going to try 48's though)
Mains: 170F 175R
Fuel Screws: 1.75 turns front - 2 turns rear
Still needs some tweaking of the carbs, but runs freakin' awesome. My butt tells me there is a lot more power midrange.
EDIT: Yes, the heel of my size 13's hit the pipe. It's not really bad though. My foot is like a quarter of an inch further forward, so ot much of a difference really. What's wierd, is that the sole of my shoe hasn't melted and the pipe hasn't discolored from my shoe hitting it.

Wow everyone raise your favorite bevy, the Hawk turned 50k this weekend.
Rode to work Friday and on the commute after work to my buddies North of NYC, I turned over Da 50k mark.
Then rode back home via upstate NY and discovered some awesome roads in Sullivan & Orange County, was fantastic. But I was 1.5 hr late getting home, sorry honey, there was traffic
Some pics
This was yesterday on Rt. 9W overlooking West Point. 9W at this point the pavement is uneven and patched - used to be alot better. Great sweepers over a mountain.

Went to change the earl & realized I had a filter but not enough earl. Didn't feel like doing the 1 hr round trip to Cycle Gear. So I thought for a second about using Rotella, but some reviews scared me out of it.
So I went to AutoZone & saw they had Moto earl for sale too. I usually use semi-syn.
But since my Hawk turned 50k this weekend, I went for the Mobil 1 Full Syn. I had a coupon, so I got $8. off.
Took a quick spin and was happy to have clean full syn Earl.
Happy Daze - Ready for the next 50k

T boned a 40 lb do, I was doing 40. Hit that dog right in the ribs, turned the clip ons to the left almost full lock. Thankfully straightened them up before turfing it. Years of lifting and riding paid off again. Close one!

This last week I got in my new Two Brothers exhaust to replace the POS L.V. system that I've grown sick of. I was hoping to put them on the bike this weekend, but went camping instead.
I thought I saw an orange SuperHawk heading west on the North Cascades Highway. Did anyone at the forum go for a ride in the mountains Saturday?
