vtr1000 vs rc51
hey theres a kinda friend of mine that has a rc51 who is always putting down my hawk saying its a rc51 wanna be says his performs better at everything i havent riiden with him due to the hawk being down for the engine rebuild but its almost ready he said he was going to show me at the1/4 track the rcs dominance his bike has a few upgrades while mine is mostly stock except the chain and sprockets -1 in front plus two in rear how do ya think it will go in a race

Well the Superhawk predates the RC51 by a few years, so if anything the RC51 is the copy..
But it is true the RC should be the better track bike, his bike can go faster, turn quicker etc etc. It will come down to the skill of the rider though.

It kinda sounds to me like your "friend" is a jerk that may be compensating for something. I wouldn't ride with someone that feels the need to put other people, or their rides down. Yes, the RC51 is a higher performance bike, it was designed to be. I think i speak for others when i say i have an appreciation for the engineering that goes into various motorcycles reguardless of the performance. Find someone else to ride with and just enjoy the ride.
P.S. I rode the Hawk home for easter weekend, 600 mile round trip, lets see how great an RC51 would be after 4 hours in the saddle.

On a squiqqly track the RC outpaces the VTR in stock form... On a straight 1/4 the VTR is on par with the RC (better low end, but the RC rushes you at the end)...
On the road the RC cant hold a candle to the VTR... Unless we are competing for the fastest ticket/most tickets...

Don´t get this in the wrong way, but it seems to me that this talk is more like a boys talk than men.
Bikes can´t be used to compensate the size of *****, when people try to do it always came out in ****.
My advice is to get away from people like that, they´re always bad news and live shortly, it´s a fact!

I´ve ride both.
I´ve been with my VTR for 12 years, and a close friend of mine has a RC 51.
When we go out together it´s like a huge storm on the road. We both have loud exausts.
Anyway, if i would race in my VTR with his RC, (wich i´m not!) i wouldn´t get a chance for sure.
I´m not the SH master but let´s if i can help you with this:
In rough mode.
The RC as a clean power curve with loads of power and a easily intuitive rideability.
It´s a great machine built for tracks.
But mine´s still more fun to ride and gives more feeling of power than his (i think it has something to do with the carbs and the injection diference)
It´s like a wild lion against a circus lion trying to see whose more fun.
His always asking to change bikes, saying he has rist pains and numb hands, but he never said his bike is better than mine, and never asked to ride agains me.
It doesn´t make sense to ride a sport tourer again a sport bike. It´s not fair and equaly.
Do you understand what i´m saying with my bad technical english? They both have they hown space and are not rivals.

I'm a newbie (that being said, you've tagged me already) but comparing the Firestorm/Superhawk to the SP/RC51 ....is like comparing CBR600F4i to CBR600RR... (actually I even think there's a bigger difference between the RC and the Hawk)...
Sure, in a 'race' it all comes down to the rider...but comparing the bikes only.....I think it's pretty much obvious...

There is a reason that several of my friends (RC, Duc 1098, 999, MV F4) will gladly let me swap bikes with them on our longer rides... And there is also a reason that they are a wee bit reluctant to switch back once I have had my fun and are getting fed up with the cramped quarters... There is also a reason that the guy on the CBR 1000RR 08 just keeps rolling along, and only tried my bike once to satisfy his curiosity...

Tweety we're not arguing here the Hawk's comfort levels or its usability in town/trips..
I think everybody would agree if you want to put some miles on a bike, you're better off with the Hawk, rather than the RC51.....
The dispute was on a performance level...
Correct me if i'm being s2pid....
