Visiting LA area - Questions about PC Highway

Enjoy the ride, but watch out for the soccer moms in minivans and SUVs as well. They are the biggest hazard in SoCal. They're always in a hurry and distracted (cell phone, yelling at kids in back seat).

Well sorry for the delayed report, but i got back after dark last night and since I had gotten up at 1AM PST to fly out for back east i was toast. This am i had to head out to training class.
Ride Report:
Awesome ride, where to start, so much to tell.
Got to the renatl place and had a choice of an 07 CBR600RR or an 06 GSXR 600. Being i am a Honda man i wanted to ride the CBR, but the grips on it were it the worst shape and lets just say needed replacing in a bad bad way. I didn't want ot deal with that on my quick and short adventure so i selected the Gixxer instead.
SuperBikeRental was awesome, They hooked me up wth a nearly new shoei and i used my own boots, leathers and gloves. The bike only had 1700 miles on it and purred like a kitten. They even adjusted the levers down for me as i hate the stock position the manufacturers always use. Quick go over of the bike with them and quick discussion on traffic and destination as well as lane splitting (more on that later).
I headed out to meet up with bdizzle about 30 or so miles away. To my surprise the 405 was at spped limit pace all the way. I will say that you guys need to get rid of that dang concreate and gets some real road surface that will not beat you to death. GPS took me right to the meeting spot with only one error on my part.
It is tough getting on an unfamiliar bike, that is smaller in power than i am used to and riding it on unfamiliar roads.
Bdizzle and i meet up, introduce our selfs and off we go.
So here i got to stop and thank bdizzle for stepping up and meeting up with a fellow SuperHawkForum member. My pace was not what i would say it would normally be, due to not being all that comfortable with the bike and no idea where the next blind turn went. bdizzle lead and i follwed at my own comfortable pace. Not slow by no means, just not as quick as the big v-twin i am used to. I had to ring that little gixxer neck to get the power up, but it tooke me half the ride before i figured out how to ride the little sucker. I would have much rather had the SV650S or VTR, but rental is all you get.
Thanks bdizzle for putting up wiht me and riding. It by far was more fun than if i had done it alone.

Ride report II
I really wanted to ride some og the Crest Highway and even thoygh bdizzle hadn't made that part of the planned loop he graciously accomidate me on a short diversion.
We started out on Big Tajunga Canyon Road which was awesome. Little rougher surface than i am used to back home, but none the less it was a good warm up. We took at right at Angeles Forest Hwy (road is in bad shapre over to Angeles Crest Hwy.
Angeles Crest Hwy was in much better shape and the view was awesome, well what time i had to look. It is a quick and major elevation change road. I hsould pause here and state that on a monday late afternoon there was little to no one on the road. We were able to ride it all the way to a motorcycle eatery about halfway with no cars at all. It was like we had the road to ourselves. At the eatery place there were a handfull of bikes up enjoying the road as well.
We then head back down the Angeles Crest road the way we had came up and took a right onto upper Big Tajunga road and worked out way down off the mountain. Another great road. At Angeles Forest Road we made a right and road that into Palmdale.
Took a quick beverage and fuel stop break in Palmdale and headed west. We made a left onto San Francisquito Canyon Road. This a fantastic road, Very quick pass and not the typical type of road we have back east. Really must pay attention or it could be bye bye for a rider.
From Santa Clara we road 126 down to Bardsdale and ran Grimes Canyon Roads to Moorpark.
Bdizzle and i said our goodbyes at a traffic light and i got quick instructions on how to get to Decker.
I loved Decker Canyon Road. Reminded me of home alot.
Ran Decker to Mulholland to Kanan Dume to PCH to Latigo to Kanan Dume to Mulhalland to Stunt to Saddle Peak to Tuna and then back to the PCH and home.
It was awesome riding up Latigo and back down Saddle Peak and Tuna. I was wishing i had my Street legal CRF450R SuperMotard the whole time. The ocean clouds were rolling in and the canyons were just breath taking.
I stopped along the way when i had time and took some pics. I will post those up in a little bit.
All in all i did 276 miles in a short time and kept the rental ride on both wheels, thank goodness.
If any of you other non-California forums members are heading this way you got to rent a bike from them and do this.
All in all i spent $254 for the rental not including my gas and at about a buck a mile it was well spent $$
Chance to ride somewhere i have never ridden, chance to see the Angeles mtn.. Priceless......

Sounds like you road your butts off. Decker definitely holds your attention. I was figuring you didn't post Monday's results 'cause you might be wore out. Though it would have been great to join you guys, it's a good thing I didn't. Had I taken off work, I'd have missed a job upgrade. More cash for the rear shock I just ordered.

It was a ride to remember. I like your roads out here, just a little faster pace than the roads we have back east.. I noticed that with the lower vegitation out here that the road is rarely in the shade. Alot different than back home, we may have roads that are completely in the shade all day due to large trees.

We routinely burn entire mountians to defoilage them for sightlines.
Down side it that the boulders are that much sharper when you object fixate.
Glad you had a good time and I wish I could have been out with you.

Sounds a lot like the roads in the Santa Cruz mountains in Nor Cal where I was. They have nice tight twisties like Malibu but they are in constant shade from 300 foot tall Redwood trees. Roads often dont get enough sun for optimum traction. One thing I really like about riding in So Cal is not haveing to think about sliding off into a thousand year old redwood juggernaught in the event of spill.
