actually i think my friend talked me into getting a tard instead. cheaper and will be easily added to the stable. much easier then a 1000rr. they look like so much fun!!! the drz400sm is what I'm looking at. seems to be the better solution out of everything and I bet with getting the superhawk all up to snuff I won't be disapointed at all:

The DRZ400SM is a great bike. It's based on the DRZ400S, which is a really good dirtybike.

Of course, it'll be a bit slower....but I bet your overall range will be just as much as the Superhawk's.

Talking +1 Motard.

Nothing is more satisfying than backing it in and opening up that throttle to feel the back tire start to drift.

Talking

I wish they are bringing the 450 V-twin motard bike into the States..
Do you think they will?

Another bike I would like to see available in the US, 2-wheel-drive dirt bike:

I can only hope there's enough clamor here so Aprilia will bring it over. It happened with the FJR and Yamaha. We just have to get enough nutsos...I mean, fans...to raise a rancor.

Two wheel drive? How much weight does that add?

The Aprilia may be street-legal, eventually, but possibly not.

IIRC, the SXV450 is $8k+. :O

The DRZ400SM won't be cheap for a used one since they were just introduced. You could probably find a converted DRZ400S.

Have you looked over at thumpertalk.com and supermotojunkie.com? There's a glut of information on those two sites. They are akin to the Superhawkforum.com for Superhawks.

well we saw a couple for 3000-4000 or so used from 05. the new 07's are coming out now too. a conversion might work. depends on where I am and the laws for registering them

Really??? Wow. I wasn't aware of that. That's a pretty tantalizing price...

Damn you...you're making me rethink my liter i4 purchase... :P

well another place also has them for sale brand new at $99 a month. haha I just think for my experience it'd be best to hold off on the i4 liter cause I'd likely hurt myself or get myself into trouble on it. also a huge dependency is where I end up working at

well I think I'm 110% set on what I'm doing now. Have no clue how I forgot about these since I was dead set on it before. Just forgot I think.... keep in mind I'm keeping the hawk and it'll be decked out. but drum roll please!!!

kawasaki z1000

stock they come with shotgun pipes and well they're mega heavy. full single side exhaust is had cheap and shaves like 30lbs or so. that plus a power commander and you get like 130whp and 75 ft-lbs tq with a mega flat line. naked, sexy, CHEAP - cause like the hawk they didn't sell well. Lots of leftovers. Perfect hooligan bike for me. hehe They're mega comfy too. faster then the hawk but being naked means no way will it render the hawk useless. I love naked bikes too. comes with factory risers and the bars are heavenly compared to even a stock hawk. I'd prob switch out the seat for a black one and the black and polished lip wheels that they put on the grey version of the z1000 and throw it on the black bike. that it though. btw when I say cheap like 5500 or so new for leftovers

*braces for inevitable criticism from marmaladeboy  cause he LOVES kawasaki *

Hmm...a Kawasucky, ehhh??? I thought the point was to get a BETTER bike than the Superhawk? If you wanted to take a step backwards, you should've removed one cylinder and one fork. And even then you'd have a better bike than that hunk-o-junk. (j/k man)

$5500 for a new leftover? That's a pretty sweet deal. '04? Personally, if I'm getting a Z1k, I'm getting the ugly orange color. Might as well stand out to the colorblind and those who have no taste.

Z1k are essentially a street-fightered ZX9R, no? It's a hodge-podge of Kawasaki bikes, along with the old 9R engine. Definitely a great use of the parts-bin. That tach is real ugly, though.

I like it.... it's a stroked 9r motor. the naked bike means I won't be doing 150 too often and it's almost like a big motard

Right? It's not like we visit 150 everyday anyways. No wonder you don't have the money to buy my crap...saving your pennies for that Z1k?

biggest thing is I want a streetfighter and getting a factory one that's really clean is sweet. solves a lot of issues compared to if I made one myself. and no I won't streetfighter the hawk. if someone can give me a great idea to streetfighter something else that'd look as good then sure I'm all ears

You're going to have a VERY hard time with bar and mirror vibration on that bike. My best friend had one and the ride was unbearable after an hour from hands going numb and mirrors are worthless. I would HIGHLY suggest riding before buying. You will understand what I mean if you ride it. My friend ended up trading that bike in for a 1000RR 2 months later and lost his *** on the deal.

i have issues with bar vibration now and my right hand goes numb... btw my friend shaved the mirrors from it anyways (i.e. just took them off) maybe a good sync will get rid of my vibration

also everyone should have picked up by now that I can't make up my mind. it's gonna come down to a lot of things. how comfortable I am at the limit of the superhawk, my salary, if I'm involved with anyone, and which bike feels the most comfortable to me... I like too many diff bikes is the problem. I need to win the lottery or something
