Tuning Issues+ riding style+ dyno + frustration !!
when I got my hawk I had some carb issues ....there would be fire from the tubes and i smelt gas all the time ....my bike would start sputtering around 90-110mph.
1) i had my carbs rejetted (+ new plugs) and it seemed to fix the problem for a while
2) the problem came back ...i was convinced that the plugs fouled up and was asked to get new ones. I did . seemed to fix it for a while
But I am not happy with it now as well...when I ride the twisties i run into a sputtering once in a while..
I dont know if my riding style is bad ....maybe I shouldnt go to first gear in tight turns? Is there any particular riding I should be doing on my vtwin ..
Secondly, should I consider getting the hawk on a dyno and getting it rejetted?
Thirdly, is this issue common...I really want my hawk tuned very well?
Finally, given that I dont have a garage can I learn how to tune my bike myself? if Yes, can someone point me to the 'dummys guide to tuning a Superhawk' or something along those lines.
Please let me know if you can. ( I am not familiar with all bike terms so please break it down for a me a bit if it is too technical?)
Cheers

all need to to taken into account also what type of jet kit (if any ) if your running like say a 180/185 dyno jet with stock exhaust your to damn rich
after market slipons good air filter etc i have had good luck with 178/180 with a flo commander installed for final tuneing but YMMV....

Ok ..I dont know how to answer these questions but I will go to the mechanic with a print out of these questions and ask them.
Are there any other questions to be asked?
Please let me know and I will find out.

A good mechanic should be able to tune your bike correctly. As a novice mechanic, it could take a lot of trial and error on your part to figure it out. If you are going to the shop to ask those questions, let him take a look at her.

well i have already spent 400$ having him tune it ...he assured me that the tuning was good and i had no way of knowing if his tuning was correct...it seemed ok and at times it fails
i am not going to mess with anything ...
cheers
