Tsunami
How's the tsunami looking to you guys on the left coast???
My riding buddy has a son, DIL and granddaughter in Japan. Son is out at sea right now. The DIL reported that they were bounced around by the quake and many aftershocks, but in the mountains enough to not be affected by the water.

The tsunami came through Hawaii and did moderate damage to harbors, the Kona area of the Big Island and a few ocean side homes. Everyone was on alert and quite a few people were evacuated from coastal areas. No fatalities and not as bad as some of the past tsunamis.

Here in San Clemente we just saw very slight receding and surging and increase in near shore currents, but nothing noticeable to anyone who doesn't know the ocean well. Dana Point Harbor reported about a 1 meter swell at 9am yesterday.
Santa Cruz Harbor got hit hard with 17 boats sunk and many more damaged, last I heard.
The Crescent City Harbor was pretty much destroyed, according to reports.
I really feel for the people of Japan.

Hi, thanks for your concern. Pretty bad up north atm. I live near Narita airport and it was scariest thing I have ever experienced. We have problems with the N power plant and are facing 8hrs of no electricity tom and possibly everyday until April. Minor damage at home but there are whole towns that have vanished further north.
Some diplomat friends have fled already believing that the news blackout on the N plant is playing down what could be a huge disaster.
Luckily I had the bike with me, all roads were blocked the moment the quake hit and was splitting cars for 30km to get home.
They're saying there is a 70% chance that a 7+ quake will hit within the next 3days, so we'll see I guess.
