those who regeared....

those who have done a significant regear, do you find yourselves using your brakes alot less than before? the 2 times i went outt his year i found myself only applying the brakes to light up my lights or if i needed to stop quicker than anticipated, but for the most part i was letting the engine slow me down. kinda nice in a way to save wear on the pads.

I only did +2 in the rear and i find myself using a lot of engine braking I notice when my I4 friends are on the brake I just let off and slow down just as nicely.

Uchi you bored man? I just regeared to 16/43 and I like it. I am not sure about the braking and all that because I normally don't slow down, haha

Pads are longer lasting and cheaper then a new clutch..

As well as if your only using engine braking to arrest your forward movement,, your going to slow...

In direct answer to your question.. No.. I do not find I use my brakes less

i'd avoid using too much engine breaking all the time

liter V-twins are hard on the tires even more....and to be honest, i'd rather wear out the pads than my rear tire...

i wanna do the -1+2 conversion as well

anybody got any good links for just the gears?

Try just the front sprocket.. see how you like it.. I did both, felt it was very quick but a but too fast through the gears and too high in the RPM range for were I ride steady state, so then went to just a -1 front sprocket... I like that better for the roads I ride in Texas... If I was back in OR or CA with lots O twistys,,, I'd have stayed with -1+2

ive got brand new tires sitting in my basement in garbage bags and my battalaxe rear still has lots of life on it from last year, so i dont mind loosing a bit of extra tread

yes, very god damn bored. lol. the bike went off to get the carbs done today, hoping it gets sorted out this week, in the meantime ill be in the gym and at work and whoring this place up, see if i can get to 1000 posts before she comes home

also the engine braking is only under normal conditions, i dont think id wanna try to engine brake alone on some of the twisty runs weve found ourselves on, although i have to admit i do enjoy how well the ebc pads and gixxer brakes are working for me

-1+2 is alot to re gear i found, but im getting used to it slowly, its definatly alot more fun than before

I hear that's one of the main causes of CCT failure. Hmmmmm

Well I wasn't going to go there but yeah a lot of the CCT failures can be linked to how the bike is ridden.
