Texas Motorcycle Inspection ?'s

I'm going to be facing my 1st ever motorcycle inspection....just a couple questions: Loud pipes...will this be an issue? Also, with my fork conversion--on full right lock the throttle cables just start to rub the fairing...another issue? I can't think of any other potential issues besides the two mentioned. I just put on a new rear tire and mounted a license plate light and red reflector. Any thoughts, please let me know...Thanks.

I'm in San Antonio TX..does anyone know a good place to go that will overlook these little things...or am I worrying too much about nothing??

Yeah, obviously you've never been through a Texas m/c inspection. LOL

Does it stop? Do the turn signals work? High beam? Got at least one mirror? Horn honk? Tread on the tires?

OK, next? And that's a "thorough" inspection. Relax. Even if you for some reason you get a safety ****, go find another one.

LOL, no kidding!!

I just had my SH "inspected" here in Alabama because my bike had a FL title. We went out to "inspect" the bike and the only thing she did was check the last few letters/numbers of the VIN. She didn't even check to see if anything worked or was safe. It was a joke

BeerHunter is an unknown quantity at this point
When an inspection is needed for one of the bikes, I usually just pull into the nearest Jiffy Lube. If the inspector is not out to lunch and the shop is not full, it will take 5 minutes to get it done. Since they are not likely to have a motorcycle license, and even if they did would not take it on the road anyway (for liability reasons), all you need to worry about is lights and horn and $12.50 + proof of insurance. Loud pipes are common around here, nobody seems to care at all.

Doug

insurance is the only other thing they will ask for.

amusing note. I'm building a street fighter out of another bike. did you know that you have two options with turn signals. you can have 4 that all have to work, or you can just take them all off and thats fine by tx too. I just thought that was comical doesn't matter if the bike can with signals or not

And license plate light, plus rear mounted reflectors.

I think how closely they look is area based. if the LEO’s in that region are looking hard, they have to look hard,, or risk losing the license for state inspection. In the Killeen area, LEO’s are looking for any reason to pull over a potential suspect (yes sarcasm hat is on) Probable cause seems to mean,, They are riding a sport bike, have a DOD sticker, they “probable” have done something wrong or illegal.
