Tested gravity today
Damn it got to check and test gravity today.
Had a get off of the bike today on my morning commute to work. ******* didn't even see me. He kept on going after the bike and I parted ways.
Road surfing down the freeway at freeway speeds isn't fun.
My bike didn't get a lot of damage. Scuffed up the mario nava front section ground down the ASV shorty lever end probably bent the bar, ground thru the clutch case pretty good scuffed the mid pipe and the foot peg. Frame slider did a great job of taking the brunt of the impact and saving the frame and gas tank.
I got a little road rash on both knees and strange I got abrasions on both middle fingers inside the hand right after the first metacarpals knuckle. No hole thru the gloves just looks like the skin seperated from the impact. Jacket trashed, gloves trashed, boots kinda trashed helmet questionable. Will see what the insurance company says about it all.
So otherwise it's good. Just sore and ego bruised.

Yay for surviving the nightmare! Sounds like you had all your gear on except for riding pants. I'll bet you get a set. Even in Vegas I wear full gear when its 100+... pavement is never soft.

Sorry to hear about the damage, man. There's never a good ring to saying "I laid my bike down", and sucks that you got a little scuffed up.

Good news, as in any crash you can walk away from is good news. Slightly funny about both middle fingers, maybe they subconciously extended as you were sliding?
Is your horn good & loud? You gotta LIVE on that thing with locating blips. I attribute all my avoidance with being a nuisance. But at least they know I am there.
The mario nava sounds like it hurts your feelings the most.

I'll throw in my experience on Friday for contrast.
Put a brand new rear tire on my SH on Thursday night as the final thing that I needed to fix before I sell and buy an RC51. (Had nice metallic blue fairings, anodized blue levers, yoshi pipes) I have 3 other bikes which I alternate between each day. Friday I started her up, quietly rolled down my driveway into my dry cul-de-sac and went to shift to second as I was leaving the cul-se-sac to keep her quiet in my sleepy neighborhood. I have commuted almost every day for the last 4 years from the same place. With no warning whatsoever the back end came unstuck and slipped out, dropping the bike on my right leg. The bike slid a few yards further and stopped, oil pouring out onto the road.
To make a long story short, my armor did what it was supposed to, but I broke both tibia and fibula in my lower right leg (Hurts like a SOB), ground a 1/2 hole in the clutch cover, tore up my new fairings pretty good and gouged up my tank pretty good.
It sounds like you may have come off better than I did.

glad you and the SH are ok. Were you in the right lane and he pulled over on you? That's what happened to me today, but i managed to keep it up. Could have been the viagra though........nah, I'm a stud. haha

This stupidity will force me to hopefully develop a more protective strategy, because if have to ride curvy roads behind slo-mos, I may as well sell the bike.
in terms of the run-off-the-road incident, this guy pulled over suddenly as i was passing on the right and, you're right, i should have used my horn. Maybe we could call it, dumb and dumber huh.

Sorry to hear that Martin, but I'm glad to hear you made out pretty well and your gear did its job. I've been down a couple times-once was taken away and another walked away. I'll take the latter. As much as it sucks, bikes can always be fixed or replaced as long as you make out ok.

That's a smart play. I was in a near miss a week ago and should have used that strategy. I hit my brakes pretty hard to avoid being forced into a curb.

I'm also looking for offensive options to address the ******** who intentionally pull over on ya, speed up to keep you from passing before curves, or otherwise threaten your existence. Do you know of any weapons, maybe a lightweight rocket launcher, that is reasonably priced and can be mounted on the back of my motorcycle?haha
I didn't encounter this type of sicko driver when I rode the canyons and hwy 1 up and down the coast in CA; I don't see this when I view You Tube vids of motorcycle passes throughout europe and other places in the world, so I guess it's a relatively parochial phenomenon common to Northeastern *********.
I am puzzled by these pee-brained ego maniacs who can't stand to have someone pass them(maybe the result of too much NASCAR exposure?) to the degree where they are willing to put someone's life on the line just to stay ahead.
Maybe I should just mount cameras to capture these maneuvers so that when I get a citation for an illegal pass, they can be arrested for attempted homicide.

Yes it is bewildering. Do these people get mad when they see a bird fly overhead? A creature with an entirely different set of parameters? I think its the same thing here.
Every so often when someone beeps or yells I slow down and motion like "hey come with me, lets go". Then I continue into the space between cars that they cant occupy.
I find that its usually impotent men or (regular) women who feel like its "not fair". But they are not taking the risk so they dont get the freedom payoff.
Regardless of opinion loud pipes really help here. Its a base visceral thing that people will back off from.
In the end, you cant be bothered. You need your whole dime of attention to stay focused and safe. No way do birds dwell on their close calls, they just move on & stay sharp. This is all part of the game you chose when you got on a bike.....

nath, They're here as well. I've had experiences going back 4 decades, where drivers sped up when I tried to pass, moved over to try and hit me when I'm lane splitting, etc. Once when I got by the bastard before a corner (he'd floored it into passing gear), I couldn't negotiate the left hander safely and had to go off wide on the dirt shoulder and around a telephone pole. Lucky for me I kept it upright and got back on the asphalt in front of the asswipe. Maybe you were just sampling too much wacky tabacky back then to notice.
My first couple years truckin were spent traveling from PA to Jersey, NY, CT, MA, and I ran into a lot-lot-lot of ignorant bastards. It wasn't till I started running south, west, and eventually to all states that I realized that people were more laid back and less angry than there fellow countrymen in the Northeast. Hell, i think those miserable jerks in CT and MA hate everybody and everything including their mothers their dogs and themselves. This is the same here in PA, but to a lesser degree and naturally there are exceptions, just like there are nice convicts.

Ok everyone an update on everything.
Road rash on both knees a large hematoma on my right thigh bruised ribs bruised right thumb a few scrapes on both hands (very minor)
As for my gear I was wearing an icon Motörhead jacket, Held gloves, sidi vertigo Corsa boots, Shoei X-11 helmetand jeans. The grooved concrete they use for roads out here really does a number on gear when you crash at speed. Ate thru my gauntlet on the gloves that stingray stuff is great didn't go thru that but the gloves are pretty trashed. Jacket almost worn completely thru in the front in a couple spots. Boot mounting for the ankle protection tore the screws out, and just ever so slightly tapped my helmet.
I was going to work 15 north approaching the 78 interchange and there was a section of heavy traffic coming up so I moved to the right lane #5 lanes 4&3 were all backed up coming down off freeway speeds when all of a sudden an ******* in a small white Mazda/Toyota turned his wheels full to the right and entered my lane. Him travelling 2 mph me going 60+ taped the front brakes to scrub some speed and the front tire just went. Not sure if he clipped me or not it was instantaneous.
Pretty sure I high sided because I shouldn't be so bruised up from a low side.

MOTGATT(Most of the gear all the time). Forgot your drawers boy, but I know that that's the price of lookin cool, and it's handy if you gotta **** bad too. haha.
Stopped traffic and you're going 60mph? I know these back-ups can be sudden, but that's some scary ****.
Tapped the front brake and lost the front. What tire, pressure, OEM brakes? we're you in the middle of the lane where there may have been debris/deposits? Evidently, the slack between zero and full compression was too much for the tire to maintain traction.

The freeway has a slight rise then drops down cant see the backup till your coming up to it. That's why I was going 60 instead of 70
Yep pretty sure middle of the lane. Not sure if there was debris or not.
Brakes are gsxr 6 pot with stock MC tire pressure was good recently didn't check that day.
