Starting issue

Hey guys hope you can help me This year my hawk has been having this starting problem. It will usally do this well as a matter a fact I think everytime so far has been with the bike warm .. This is what it does when I go to start it it will just crank and crank not firing at all not even a burb then all at once it will let out a huge backfire and then when I start cranking again it will start and run no problem.... I think it's ignition related but am not really sure and have no proof... do both cylinders run off of one single coil ? Since it's not hitting at all it much be somthing that affects both cylinders.... Thanks in advance guys....

yeah it idles great 1100rpm right on the money it also run great.... Another note when it does it I have tried everything from choking it to holding the throttle wide open it allways seems to take about the same 10 to 15 sec of cranking then the huge backfire then it starts and instantly runs perfect...

My hawk is kinda odd like this.
I learned to choke it halfway when cold, no throttle.
When it fires and dies, choke off, then it starts.
When warm no choke at all, and if it doesnt fire in a few seconds, let off button.
Then crack throttle about 1/4 and crank. fire right up.

If your jetting is off, or filter is really dirty, it will act strange too.
Its most likely not ignition related, more of a carb setting issue.

Thanks but no amount of thottle or choke seems to change this behavior I have not changed anything on the bike its stock with debaffled pipes has about 10k miles on it.... Please keep the advice coming I really don't even know where to start...

I'm thinking along the lines of CB above - the choke or throttle, something carb related. Have you had the bike long, and is this a new problem, or did it just crop up?

It does seem to be flooded when this happens could they (carbs) both be leaking into the motor somehow is there somthing that would go bad in both carbs or in the fuel system that could make them leak into the motor......Also this just started this yearr since spring It happened on the first day of riding and had happen about every other time I ride the bike as well...

Sea Foam. it is a great product. if it is something stuck not failed this stuff works pretty good. you might need to open the carbs up and look at them.

it just seems very strange to me that this would happen to both at the same time...
