i was gonna PM you last night to apologize for posting the PAIR question that initiated the sporadic raids on you thread. lack of sleep was going to be my lame excuse, but i couldn't/can't figure out how to PM you. then the power went out on my block...

i'm actually, **hopefully**, gonna be installing APE CCTs pretty soon and am, believe it or not, paying close attention to the uninfected CCT posts on your thread.

Not speaking for anyone else but myself, yes I am fucked, and it might as well be winter with all the freaking rain around here this Spring. Clearly if I was riding more, I wouldn't be so bored as to mindlessly jack other guy's threads.

The funny part is I may find myself posting the same subject after MY CCTs arrive soon.. If so, feel free to parry my obnoxious posts to your thread requesting assistance.

no worries guys i thread jack posts all the time im just having fun with the lot of you

ill adjust them maybe on sunday before my ride. tomorrow night is my bachelor party, i had one request, to get drawn on with marker by a foreign stripper. from the sounds of it, its gonna get fullfilled. lol. so i may not be in any condition to have a loud bike running by my head sunday. but if i do ill take the suggestions into consideration and see if i can adjust it by ear without popping the motor

Back on topic and likely after the bachelor's party debacle... here's to surviving...

In adjusting the cam chain there is little risk to jump a tooth unless you back it out stupid loose until the clatter is deafening.

What I spoke of is backing it out until there is an audible light clicking/ticking, which is where the chain barely has any play at all. The ticking is the light tapping of the chain on the slider shoe which taps on the adjuster bolt. The play is a few hundredths of an inch, since it is usually less than a quarter turn of the adjuster nut from ticking to quiet. You have to figure with an M8-1.25 bolt one full turn of the bolt moves 1.25mm or a shade less than .050" - so that 1/4 turn is about .31mm or .013" and there is no way in heck a cam chain will jump with that little amount of play!

In other words listen and adjust, don't worry about jumping time... but do it after the hangover is gone. Less painful.
