Spark Plugs
Hey everybody - I went to get new plugs yesterday, and asked for the specified DPR9EVX-9, with the platinum coated electrode. My dealer put it in the computer, said it had been updated to DPR9EIX-9 (iridium electrode). Has anyone else experienced this, or is the dealer just trying to get rid of some plugs? Thanks!

Re: Spark Plugs
about 4 months ago I was able to get the exact platinum ones that it calls for at my local dealer.
If it is better than the platinum ones, I wouldn't worry about it and just go with it.

I have yet to find anything that works better than NGK spark plugs, after 17 years of woking on my own bikes. I would only consider an alternative brand if the NGK's were not available.
That being said, I believe Denso makes a plug for the VTR.

Plugs are a commodity. Except for the vanity plugs claiming their unique design is better and no-names, its hard to find a stinker. Iridium plugs offer no advantages over platinum plugs. They both fire and last almost exactly the same.
NGK is a fine brand, so are Champion and Denso.
