Slipper Clutch
I am in the process of buying one of these for my Streetard, anyone on hear found one made for the SuperHawk. i have looked and the major manufacturers and have not seen that they make one for our cult bike.
A slipper sure would be nice on this bike with all the engine brake and rear wheel hop if you downshift too much with out letting the engine speed catch up.

Agreed. I understand the benefit of a slipper clutch on the track, man the VTR is a wiggly sucker under those conditions. On the street I kind of like hanging the back end out when diving into a turn. It freaks out the old ladies which I think is funny. It's not too good for tire wear but neither is sliding it out during corner exits. That reminds me, I need to have my yearly set of new tires installed...

the rc51 may be able to be adapted.
need to do my home work as far as bearing diameters and such.
as far as mainshaft measurements they appear to be the same
in the service manuals.
anybody have a busted rc clutch they could donate for
experiments?

i've never needed one... i've always thought the gear ration was pretty short up top - i can drop from 6th to 4th in just a couple of heart beats. the lower gears i could see if your not used to the torque of a twin.

Slipper clutch would be nice to have if you race in the rain or are in the habit of downshifting into first at 60 mph.
People talk about it like it is some brand new superhot motogp setup that serious gofasters simply must have.
My 25 year old VF750F (msrp $3498) came with one standard. Nice to have for free, but I wouldn't pay $800-$1000 plus labor to add it on.

Too my knowledge no one made one for the VTR. I am about to buy one for my SuperMoto tho. I can't wait to take it to Barber Motosports Park and going in to turn five go full throttle till the last minute and jam it down three gears, let the clutch out and back it in to the turn.

Slippers are nice, but I have only ridden my SH on the track (no title for street use) and unlike the R6 i never even thought about it, maybe it's the torque that eliminates the need for huge downshifting. maybe I need to try harder...

Reviving an old thread. I've never seen one but I guess they make them... Not much less than I've paid for more than one entire running Superhawk!
