Slipper Clutch

I am in the process of buying one of these for my Streetard, anyone on hear found one made for the SuperHawk. i have looked and the major manufacturers and have not seen that they make one for our cult bike.

A slipper sure would be nice on this bike with all the engine brake and rear wheel hop if you downshift too much with out letting the engine speed catch up.

I like the rear wheel hop. I makes me feel like Gary McCoy.

Agreed. I understand the benefit of a slipper clutch on the track, man the VTR is a wiggly sucker under those conditions. On the street I kind of like hanging the back end out when diving into a turn. It freaks out the old ladies which I think is funny. It's not too good for tire wear but neither is sliding it out during corner exits. That reminds me, I need to have my yearly set of new tires installed...

I'll keep my hopping rear thank you...

It scares the beejesus out of the cagers when you are passing them in the corners going hard...

im not saying it will but looking at some specs,
the rc51 may be able to be adapted.

need to do my home work as far as bearing diameters and such.

as far as mainshaft measurements they appear to be the same
in the service manuals.

anybody have a busted rc clutch they could donate for
experiments?

i've never needed one... i've always thought the gear ration was pretty short up top - i can drop from 6th to 4th in just a couple of heart beats. the lower gears i could see if your not used to the torque of a twin.

Blipping the throttle gets me into the lower gear easily, but if I blip my way down to first while going 45-50 mph and roll off the throttle while letting out the clutch...

I emailed TSS Clutch and they said that their slipper clutch fits the RC51. But does the RC51 clutch fit a VTR???

Slipper would be nice. Probably prolong the life of the cam chain tensioners also.

I'm too old school for that new fangled trickery... Match the revs with a good blip.

Slipper clutch would be nice to have if you race in the rain or are in the habit of downshifting into first at 60 mph.

People talk about it like it is some brand new superhot motogp setup that serious gofasters simply must have.

My 25 year old VF750F (msrp $3498) came with one standard. Nice to have for free, but I wouldn't pay $800-$1000 plus labor to add it on.

Too my knowledge no one made one for the VTR. I am about to buy one for my SuperMoto tho. I can't wait to take it to Barber Motosports Park and going in to turn five go full throttle till the last minute and jam it down three gears, let the clutch out and back it in to the turn.

Slippers are nice, but I have only ridden my SH on the track (no title for street use) and unlike the R6 i never even thought about it, maybe it's the torque that eliminates the need for huge downshifting. maybe I need to try harder...

i cant stand slipper clutches. they make lazy riders out of people. learn to ride your bike and you wont need one.

or work the clutch a bit if u have to.

If you guys are getting hopping in the rear, try adding a touch more rebound and tightening your chain to spec.

never had aproblem with hop.
but i have left some wiggly lines on the asphalt before!
one might come in handy with modded engines with lots of compression.

What affect would a slipper clutch have on that beautiful music coming from the exhaust when getting off the gas? The VTR has to be one of the best sounding bikes out there.

Reviving an old thread. I've never seen one but I guess they make them... Not much less than I've paid for more than one entire running Superhawk!

hmm weird because yoyodyne's website doesnt even have it. maybe they stopped production on it. i honestly cant even see any company spending the R&D money to make a slipper clutch for the hawk but the seller is "yoyodynesales" so im sure its not a mistake

they actually still make it or at least sell it, its on their site http://www.yoyodyneti.com/ProductInf...oductid=T19303
