i went on a 95% freeway trip from Los Angeles north past Santa Barbara a few weeks ago and got 145 miles then the light popped on...ended up at a gas station at 160 miles. i was cruising at a pretty constant 75-80mph and most of the trip was at sea level if that helps.

Let's just say that you will start to planning your trips around gas station locations
Gas mileage can really vary with the Superhawk but it is never good. Throw on some required pipes and rejet and expect to become even closer pals with the dreaded RLOD. The worst I used to get was commuting in LA surface street traffic, about 22 mpg or 75 miles between fill ups. I did this for nearly four years, using the VTR an average of half the time. It does better here in Tucson with much more open and steady running streets, about 25 mpg but it still sucks having to fill the tank every three days. Running through the twisties maybe 27~28 mpg. On the highway at reasonable speed (80 mph) it does OK with about 31~32 mpg or 110 miles range.
Hope this helps :-?

Every weekend I drive from Ft. Bragg, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC (160 miles). I fill up on base and my light comes on just as I get to the beach! Can't beat a 320 mile round trip for $20 worth of gas!

The best I've done is 110 miles before the light was blinking. But my bike has only 1100 miles on it (owned it less than two weeks). I have been told that the MPG will improve once the motor is more broken in. My mechanic said he had a 98 and got rid of it because of the frequent gas stops. But he said that eventually, he got like 38 MPG with it.

Q. SH Gas Mileage and range on a tank????
A. Crappy and brief.
My four-wheeled Honda is a restored 1st generation CRX which easily gets 32 mpg in flog-it driving, and up to 40 mpg on the highway.
Superduperhawk can't even come close to that mileage. But, then, it's got more horsepower.
Both it and the Duke are only good for 90-100 miles max on a tank so I have as several others have said factored gas stops into all my trip plans.

I typically get 42mpg. I normally run to the 135-140 mar before seeing the light. This is traveling 85% backroads at around 70 mph and between 4-5000 rpms, with a few sprints north of 7000 rpms. That is just how I use my hawk...
