Seafoam?

How do you guys feel about Seafoam in the Hawk. I like to dump a bottle in my Tacoma every so often just for general maintenance. I'm not having any issues with my bike, I just wanted to see how you felt about Seafoam for a general maintenance product.

I think a lot of us use it. I've used it with no ill effect.

Just don't overdo it relative to the amount of fuel capacity. I have never dumped in a whole bottle.

I too have used it quite a few times with no issues.

Yea I think the bottle says 1 bottle per 12-18 gallons or something so I didn't plan on putting a whole bottle in. I'll try it out. Thanks

Stabil is also a great product. I have used it for years, and no problems at all

I use Stabil as well, but only when I Store something for a long period of time. Do you recommend using it on a regular basis for maintenance? I'm just trying to keep my motor clean and running good. I read so many threads about good and bad fuel and honestly I'm just paranoid now lol

I don't see a real reason to use any of these products except if you going to store the bike, or after storage or if you get to use shady gas stations, other then that, if you don't have a problem why worry?

Well I guess I don't NEED to use anything, you're right. I just believe in preventative maintenance and thought this would be good for the fuel system.

Well... Preventive maintainance yes... So, about the same intervall as you change the oil then... Seems fairly reasonable really...

But drewski, every fift tank?! Why in the name of all that is holy would you do that?

You are likely doing more damage than good at that point, as you are actually reducing the effectiveness of the engine... And usually those impurites that Seafoam "releases" ends up in the oil, making it loose effectiveness as well... So, unless you change your oil every fifth tank too, I'd suggest rethinking it...

For fuel maintenance, I use this stuff, since we have the crap fuel here with 10% ethanol. Works great.

I like your thinking Tweety. I'll run a tank with Seafoam right before every oil change. Thanks for all the input guys.

Never thought of it as creating a problem, just thought of it as using an additive like the type added to fuel. Thanks for your post, will make me reconsider.......

SeaFoam contains alcohol. If you're already forced to use ethanol SeaFoam adds more alcohol to the mix. I'd personally use Chevron Techron Concentrate as a maintenance and cleaning agent- no alcohol content.

I use it as a stabalizer in small engines and the hawk over the winter. i like it better than stabil. i use BG44k as a fuel system cleaner....its the only thing that works!

oh and i also drop in half a pint or so into the crankcase before every other oil change on all my vehicles. gets the sludge out.
