ran the hawk at the strip

its chattering, but it was doing that from the get go, i dont slip it really hard, its not worth frying the clutch and not being able to ride home.
my basket is probably worn.
unless other people have had trouble with chattering at the strip.

Re: ran the hawk at the strip
still curious....
What gear do you cross the line in?
Do you get into the rev limiter in that final gear before crossing the line or do you shift another time?
I just wonder how a drop of one tooth up front, or increase of a few teeth in back, might impact you shift points and ET.
I dropped one tooth up front and it works great for some situations. I have gone back to stock gearing for my next track day at Barber. The slightly higher RPM had my shift points just right to be wrong. I was into the rev limiter at a few points where shifting to 4th would have only been for about 100 yds then back down to second, so I rode the rev limiter.
You get the idea.
Just wondering if you had any head room left (RPMs) when you crossed the line, if a drop of one tooth up front might get you better pull and still not require an additional shift..
Thanks for the info!

With stock gearing I don't think I ever got to 6th gear on the strip. My question is how the F you ever got that many runs in, is it motorcycle only night? Every time I went I was lucky to get in 4-5 passes at the most! That's one of the reasons I stopped going, that and I find the track to be a lot more fun. Don't get me wrong I had a blast at the strip but too much waiting around and I get a huge rush from draggin a knee.
