Not sure about the price but given that they are only planning on building 400 anually, I would imagine it will be pretty steep.
BTW, it may not be a work of art like the 916 was but I personally don,t find it ugly at all. I guess that's why they say opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one, lol
cheers

I don't think it's BMW ugly (And yes, they only make ugly bikes).... it's just not Ducati beautiful that I'm accustomed to seeing.... No frame exposed, way too much fairing (needed for GP, but hides the good stuff) and too not sure the headlights....
BTW.. I think I read somewhere the price tag was a measly 65K..... so about the price of a real nice car.

I agree that many (ok, most) Bimmers are aesthetically challenged but the new R1200S (the sporty model) looks sweet (especially in yellow with black accents)
Getting back to the Duc, I wonder what the weight will be? While it will surely be replete with exotic materials, V engines tend to be heavier than I-4's (two cam chains and sprockets vs one, ...) so I am curious as to how the weight will compare with the Japanese literbikes.

Well I think it looks HOT! Why? Well it looks like a cool 14 year old honda! LOL.
If anyone seriously wants a desci (around $65k and US allotment sold out in one hour), I know of one available. Pickup point would probably be Houston.

The new Ducatis don't look as good because they lost designer Massimo Tamborini to MV Augsta
Here's a Tamborini design
It's only 172.8 HP tho
Here's a pic with a ghost image of the variable height velocity stacks.
The VS change height with RPM to increase horsepower....who woulda thought of this?

as the fairing says, it's the 'desmosedici' or sixteen desmo. the motogp replica. or in simpler terms 'god'. or GD! when, and if, you see one. we should be glad ducati brought it to production. maybe it will convince Honda to make their V-5 street going replica. drool, drool, slobber.

...nuff said. But either way that bike is gorgeous because you know what's underneath. And I remember the first time I saw an MV F4 in person I thought it was the most beautiful motorcycle I'd ever seen (and probably still do).

at least ducati is moving in the right direction. the 1098 costs less than half what the 999R costs, and it makes more horsepower, is lighter, and looks way better. and now ducati has upped their maintenance schedule so that the first valve adjustment doesn't come until the 12,000ml mark. still can't beat the superhawk at 18,000ml, but it's a step in the right direction. the desmo is just a heart attack on 2 wheels.(but in a good way) if they ever make an RC-211V for the street, I'm just gonna have to do whatever it takes to get one. WHATEVER IT TAKES!

yeah and the 1098s is 19k> 14k is not bad for the bike thay have come a long way in the market to try to take the 1098 to the top both raceing and on the street. I will be one of few that will be waiting and watching to see if it will pans out on the streets
