Pizza and beer???

To every sport there are newbies... and the "old guys" of the sport if you will need to pass on the knowledge. That's how it has worked for ages. If we stop doing that or we blow people off when they ask for help what does that say about us. Sure cracker could have worded his post differently, but so what I understood the message "Please help me, I don't know much but want to learn." Sounds like a student attitude, and that I can teach. All this BS about searching is getting out of hand. He has a viable problem, sure the answer probably is on the forum somewhere but if you don't know anything where do you start. Timing, Fueling, spark plugs, air filters, bad fuel, junk in the carbs, diaphragms, float needles, petcock leaks, PVLIR... and on and on. Anyone of those to someone with out much experience on the matter would be something to look into for the problem he described to me. If you haven't ever done carb work that is pretty intimidating.

Though I think we went out for Mexican Food and not pizza after. lol

Wait, is this the thread where i come to cry and whine? Respect my left foot. I did searches to learn about what i was reading and also asked some stupid newb questions. Hes respecting your knowledge by asking in the first place. This isnt 7th grade anymore. 7th graders dont have sweet bikes that pull wheelies and do 150mph

earn respect? what is this, "big brother" or some reality show featuring a bunch of punks? "YOU MUST RESPECT ME!!!" come on, we ride superhawks. we are more mature. this is not on gixxer.com!!!
searching. i search. i've found threads(other forum), asked a question in them and got razzed for ressurecting an old thread! damned if you do, damned if you don't. hahahaha
canadian beer is good. american beer is good. european beer is good. all beer is good. i haven't looked at alcohol content since university! hahaha!
this is a good thread.
cracker - are you making progress on your bike?

There we go, now, this is more like it guy's, I saw the post just moments after Nuhawks un-characteristic negative response, and, at first, was like owch! not even a rolled up newpaper but a full on stick right outta the gate, I was taken aback by the harshness, but after deliberating for a bit decided not to post a reply right off as I still consider myself new here, although not new to wrenching and riding. I'm glad I held off as it enabled me to sit back and watch the magic happen, a bunch of folks stepping up and saying, hey, cracker, I can give ya some info, even got the cornandp willing to stop by and help out a fellow rider, a couple of ??? wtf's up with Nuhawk but at the same time, taking it in stride with a hey, maybe he's having an off day we all have em now and then. Plus us noobs might need a swat now and then. I did pretty much the same thing when I joined, I read a lot of posts, saw other noobs get the "do a search ya dumb s#*t noob", figured the lay of the land before making my first post. I'm very much in the learning about my newest addition to a looong list of past rides, I have one advantage that not all the noobs have, 42 years of riding and more than that of wrenching, (been takin s#*T apart for as long as I can remember, didn't allways end good, but, well.. you know what I mean if you've been fortunate enough to have been there, It's just that not all of us have been there, done that. I've only recently gotten to the point of feeling comfortable enough to chime in when someone has a tech question, as I learn more about the Hawk I will be able to contribute more back to the community that has helped me find my way here, it's been greatly appreciated. Well, look like I've droned on long enough, had rotor cuff surgury and they gave me some good meds so... just my 4 cents worth. Thanks all.

I am down to drinking a Rum Sour tonight as I am out of beer and proper mixers for my Rum, and have no interest in driving to the store..
Oh well, this will work for now.
(I could do something w vodka or tequila instead, but have been on a rum kick lately)

you guys seemingly had a good night. even your typing is slurred. lucky you.
I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She's coming in 12:30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation
I stopped an old man along the way,
Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies
He turned to me as if to say, Hurry boy, It's waiting there for you
CHORUS:
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never have
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what's right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti
I seek to cure what's deep inside, frightened of this thing that I've become
CHORUS
(Instrumental break)
Hurry boy, she's waiting there for you
It's gonna take a lot to take me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do

i dont know wtf is wrong with the first few replies in here, especially nuhawk i thought you seemed pretty cool from your other posts...
a guy is just asking for help with his bike, thats what forums are for right? why are we all here if noone can ask for help?
id go help anyone that asked me, i enjoy meeting other bikers and workin on bikes, end up making good friends out of it too. someone goes and shows this guy how to do this, and he'll be able to help someone else do it who asks someday.
you obviously know everything and have no time to help other people... but how much would you know if every time youve asked for help with your bike at the start you were told to **** off? you learned from someone too.

Cracker, check to make sure your electric fan is coming on when you're stopped. Low coolant will also make it heat up faster when you're not moving.
I thought this thread was just derailed, but this page made it take on a whole new meaning..... It has been Thread Labotomized! Lol
Finepooch busting out the lyrics to that song got it stuck in my head again lol. That video is where I got the want to grow a 70's Porno moustache

Sir,
please refrain from trying to stay on topic. We have done a very good job of derailing this thread. Please do your best to stay off-topic in the future.
Thanks,
the management
Just messing with ya man.

Well... Sorry people but I'm going back to topic...
Talk about people throwing stone in a glass house! "Don't scare off the newbies!"
Well... Stop ganging up on the non newbies then... Most people in her having said pretty harsh words about Nuhawk have in one thread or other been not too nice to a newbie himself... So either have something nice to say or go sit on yer hands for a while and think things over before you start typing...
I'm harsh to newbie's... For a good reason... I absolutely refuse to spoon feed hungry birdbrains that sit with their mouth open waiting for the food to come...
I put the food infront of them and let them eat it them selves... If they can't do that they starve... I don't see a problem with that... Neither do I see a problem with scaring of a newb that can't look through some of the threads before asking one of the top 5 most obvious questions... If he can come back and tell me to **** of, then he's worth having a conversation with... If not... Oh well... If he can come back with a well though out question, I might even like the guy... eventually...
I'm not speaking for Nuhawk, but I believe he thinks along the same lines... You earn respect first... Sometimes by actions, sometimes by how you present yourself... I have seen him go out of his way to help complete strangers... For all of you slagging on him, take a look in the older threads... Not just the list of the ten last posts... Use the search (Oh, darnit... Now I said that again, now I will get flamed... )
A lot of you have said "What if the older guys had said that to you when you where learning?" ... Well I can tell you that if I had asked questions in the way that a lot of the newbies are doing to the guys teaching me to wrench they would most likely have thrown me out of the shop with my head first...
You don't go asking for things like you own them and demand them to be explained to you... You ask with some respect and put some effort in yourself and the chances of getting it goes up exponentially...
crackerjackman, nice of you to "forgive" Nuhawk... It's just not really your place to do so... I really don't find Nuhawks post offensive, even if some people in her got all upset... Harsh, yeah... But not in any way something not warranted by the original posting... I probably would have worded it differently, but not by much...
However there came more info later, and more backstory... That would have changed my response if it had been in the first post... Probably Nuhawks as well...
Your first post makes it seem like you are offering pizza and beer for service to the bike... (not the case, but it seems like it...) Worded another way that you wan't somebody to help you out doing, and learning the work yourself and the response is the opposite, shown later in the thread...
cornanp get's respect though... Lot's of it...
Now... are we done with this subject?! Or are there anymore in here that want's to stick their foot in their mouth and badmouth anyone else? newbie or otherwise?

i dont think it seemed that way at all
i would be harsh to a dumb noobie asking stupid questions as they would deserve it, but this guy seemed ok to me, he is wanting to look at his timing and carb sync which is more intimidating that basic stuff. its something anyone would want help with the first time they did it regardless of how many threads they have read about doing it.
i dont think it seemed like he was asking for someone to work on his bike for free. he was asking if any more experienced local bikers wanted to hang out and give him a bit of direction on it, and he would provide munchies and booze too which is always good lol nothing disrespectful about that in my opinion, and it certainly doesnt seem like he's demanding anything.
i guess his post could be interpreted in different ways, depends what type of person is reading it.........
