Few quickies....

a) Mark - we are set. Room #1 Friday and Saturday night -confirmed w/ Ben 5 mins ago.

b) Ben says we (SH group) only have a few rooms reserved. I hope that means folks are staying elsewhere as opposed to just not showing up.

c) If we all want to meet up for dinner at the restaurant there at Deal's Gap, we could do that Saturday evening. The store and restaurant both close at 8 PM.

See you then!

We were there this past weekend and had a couple good days of riding.... we saw Brian A at the store and he just walked by and blew us off. I guess because we were on a RC and not the Hawk....LOL

YOU BONE HEAD! you shoulda' said Hello.
I remember - very well - watching and hearing the RC 51, and thinking "Man, I'd LOVE to ride one of those!"

I didn't know it was you.
Glad you had a good trip.

Well what's the final count... based on the lack of chatter on here it seems it may be very low, We will be there early Thursday morning to get some riding in before the weekend crowd rolls in.... The GF has a new bike so we will be bring 2 bike this trip down.

Nice! So you finally got Dawn on her own ride now, eh? Good job!

As far as turnout goes, I'm expecting about the same number as we had last year, maybe 1 or 2 more. I don't expect to ride DG much. Hopefully we can stick with CS and other great local roads. We can volunteer the local guys to be the tour guides.

I'll be leaving on the morning of the 9th, getting there sometime in the evening.

Deal's Gap

Hey guys didn't even realize where the SHOG rally was until today, I live about 30 minutes from the gap on the Tennessee side and will more than likely ride up there this weekend. What are your plans? Where exactly should I look for you all at on Saturday morning or afternoon?

It is looking up so far, keeping my fingers crossed...

I plan to be there Friday, mid morning.
I'll be on a silver CBR 1000F. (no more SH) Black and yellow leathers
Sgt. Rock is due in Friday evening.

Maybe we can meet at the store around 9 or 10 am Saturday and decide on what we want do, where we want to go.
About the only time we might be able to play on "The Dragon" would be late Saturday afternoon, and that is only if the LEO guys bug out.

Maybe dinner at the restaurant there Saturday night or, there is a REALLY good Mexican restaurant in Robbinsville.......

According to Tail of the Dragon calendar, we are the only event they show.

Currently, the weather forecast looks pretty good.

Work is really kicking my butt this week since I'm on call. I still plan on getting up there Friday night but if I can't then I can't. I should have a better judgement come Thursday on how the weekend workload will fair out. I'm just not sure if my pager will reach all the areas that we want to ride in.

Aviationboy if I can't make it you could take everyone down foothills to Walland or foothills to 321 to 73. It spits them out in Gatlinburg which sucks but the ride over there is nice with minimal straight roads. Since you're in Marysville I'm sure you know plenty more over there than I would. I hang out on 116 most of the time

Yeah I can show them about anything on the Tennessee side no big deal. I'm not sure exactly how much riding I will be able to do though. I kinda got screwed over with my last paycheck and am a little short on funds.

Well guys, I can't even promise I'll e able to make it up there this weekend now. I got laid off from work yesterday for no apparent reason. So I guess I'll do my best to try to get up there.

Looks like I'm not the only one that has to change plans. We were leaving from Maryland today but due to personal issues we have to cancel. Lots of planing and packing out the window. I'm so bummed right now it's unbelievable! I was really looking forward to this trip!
Hope you'all that do make it down have fun, stay out of trouble, and do an extra pass on the Dragon for those of us that can't make it!

Well, life is what happens while I make plans.....

Wednesday approx 6:00 PM I had to hit the road to Baton Rouge, La for work.
Unexpected and unavoidable.

I did not get home until Friday night.
So, I did not get to go to Deal's Gap like I had planned.

I was/am disappointed and aggravated, but nothing I could do about it.

OBTW - Sgt. Rock could not go either due to work.

There were about 4 members there. I went up early and met with Don and Dawn (OhioHawk) and we rode around some Thursday and most of Friday. Don doesn't have a VTR anymore but the bigger brother - the RC51. Got in a run on the Dragon on Saturday morning and had to hit the road at noon. I had a track day at Gateway Int'l on Sunday morning.

Can't remember exactly who showed up Saturday morning. I apologize. I suck with names and it's been a long 3 weeks.

The rest of the trip was great. I'll post more on the MotoGP and CA ride portion elsewhere.
