hey guys,
I bought a 99 SH for $1800 a few days ago...the "ting" he described was actually what you guys call a "carb fart"
at first I was going to sell it but after reading all the stuff here...I decided to put in some fresh gas, new plugs, new oil and filter, and a new battery...and man...that bike blew my hair back...
I've owned a 98 R1, 2003 R6...but I never felt anything like the SH...
fell in love...tried to delete the classified post and screwed it all up...decided I understand why they call us squids...
I'm a auto mechanic (35 years) who earned a Ph.D. in American History in 2007...I write books about German-Americans...you can Google Raymond Lohne...
sorry to be such a "squid" but damn grateful to have found this bike and this forum...
hope to become more like you guys someday...

Awesome. Glad you were enlightened. I got my 98 SHawk Dec 31st and have put 2000 miles on it already. My poor Bandit is feeling neglected, lol. Welcome to the forum. Lots of fantastic info here. Btw, when I got mine, it had Shinko tires on it from 2001. They had lots of tread left, but were hard as rocks and handled funny. I wore them out while getting used to the Hawk and just put Pilot Power 2ct's on it, and wow, big difference in handling, and so easy to steer now. It was a bit truckish before.
