Lightbulb Need Mod Ideas For the hawk..bring'em

It's time. I put the Hawk down last Sept. fixed all my hard parts and have been on the road since. Come mid Aug. I'll have some time and my garage back so a tear-down is in order. While it's down might as well mod.

On the list at the moment;
-Paint or Full wrap, to cure the rash.
-replace a few scuffed parts
-Man CCTs
-Custom clutch & brake lines (I work a shop that can make DOT cert lines, more of that to come for the membs here)

Other than that my head is flush with random bike thoughts. Please inspire me with your mod thoughts.

One point would be that i have not out grow the capabilities of the bike so most things would be cosmetic in nature.

I'm an odd duck, so I have an odd bike and I like to make it my own.

thanks all.

A smoke kit that installs in the exhaust. This will help you win street race due to the fact that your opponents won't be able to see

You're assuming that you'd be out in front far enough to deploy the smoke screen.

Make sure it's a Crashrat approved modification or you'll be accused of trying to "re-invent the wheel".

I'm re-inventing the wheel again, this time it has to do with measuring the lenght of time.

The key is to not let the other guy know you are racing

Humor's good and all, but really, I'm looking to all those who have done or seen some cool things to their hawks.

Well it all depends on what you want to end up with and how much you want to spend...... This is what I did the last time I started wrenching on my bike.

In all seriousness It would be pretty sweet to see a modified fuel injection system off of an RC put onto this bike. It will take a lot of skill and knowlege but you would have a very unique and powerful bike.

if you're going for cosmetic mods more so then I would have to suggest some custom carbon fiber accents, such as carbon over chain guard or something creative. like this

I just ordered some manual CCT's from Rider on a Storm. While I'm putting them in I'm going to do the CBR Stick Coil mod. Seems pretty easy and straightforward mod. I might order a set of 4 off ebay so I'll have two extra if you're interested.

I like PW’s suggestion of FI. More mundane things I think might be cool include a R1 caliper swap, improved cooling system, and a shorty exhaust for the masses. I ran a SuperTrapp ATV can on my old Hawk and it was just perfect, darling, perfect.

I would love to see a retro muscle bike version of the SH with spoked rims, a SSS, Scrambler style exhaust. Or how about the Motard Just Nick started? There are all sorts of subgenres that haven’t been played out: Basically we have sportbike, sport-tour, streetfighter and naked so far.

One of the prototypes had a rad in the lower spoiler location – no idea how that would work, but it cleaned things up. I was all set to try a new VW headlight on the bike before the wife dragged me back to reality.

It really depends on what you’re trying to do with the bike… In the thread Eric mentions above, we batted around the idea of alternative front ends. If I could select any front end, it would be one of the new Buells – I’m just a gee-whiz sort of guy. Tweety mentioned (I think) the new Ohlins CBR front-end, but that would just make too much sense to me. It sort of depends on the direction you’re going.

Or you could find a second VTR motor and build a twin engined, turbo-charged stretched, streamlined Bonneville salt racer. I'd love to hear two blown VTR motors screaming in tandem in a salt racer at 200+mph. That'd be bitchin'

You know, it's been done SS. I have a picture of a SH at home with a VRod headlight. I have no idea how he did the brackets, but it looks great.

Sure, I had it in my e-mail. I actually bought some parts from this guy

(Not the headlight, though.)

Have a friend thats been looking into a FI system for me. He's a programer for Electromotiv and has built two stand alone systems for my 4wheeled toys. (I must owe him beer or something, havn't heard from him lately)

Probably won't go naked, some of them look great. I prefer the half farininged bastard sport/touring bike monaker I'v earned.

If FI is on the table, don't know if you read the threads about this, others have tossed around looking into the FI from the Valero, since it's engine is more similar to the SH than the RC is.

With the group of people gathered on this forum, there really isn't a lot to do to this bike that hasn't been done in one way or another.

I wish you the best of luck, share pics of what you come up with.
