true.. that or a sex change.. Looks very euro with the *** way up like that, it works but if I were riding it I'd want something that puts a little less pressure on the jewels.

Oh... and a side note... even if you do that crazy angle... keep the seat a bit more backwards as it is in stock form... Starts on the back edge of the alu frame behind tha tank... otherwise not only the angle will bother you, you will also have a hard time getting your feet on the pegs as they will be to far back... Plus you will move your weight alot forward on the bike...

nothing wrong with putting more weight up front.
if anything it would probably improve handling.
plus he mentioned making his own rearsets.

1st off. The exhaust is nothing like that. It will be under engine with 2 Moto GP style shorty megs sticking out of each side.
The seat will be slightly lower but it will have more of an *** shape, more contour so i wont want to slide forward as much.
Ill be raising the rear ride hight and moving weight forward to improve turn in..
The handlebars im using will move my hands slightly up and slightly back. In turn ill have a more upright seating position.

im using the stock upper subframe mount as my lower subframe mount. There will be no exposed subframe and it will look like the tail is supporting myself. To do this i have to move the seat slightly forward, but not much.
The final seat position will be determined by me sitting on the bike and how i like it.

I also need the measurement from the top of the tire to the bottom of the bottom triple tree.
I put the bike back together and im setting the base line suspension height.

Later I may fit up a 600rr swinger, but i need this bike to ride soon.
Your right the sketch is straight up 1098. If i could get a 1098 swinger wheel and all components for 100 bucks id do it. I think we all know thats never gonna happen.

However CBR 929/954 works with a lot of work... needs a new header and moving the suspension... plus a lot of fiddling since it's a 25mm pivot bolt...
RC51 swingarms fit with a little less work... an SP2 one is almost bolt on... SP1 has a larger pivot...
Also apparently for single side an Augusta MV4 swing shouuld fit...atleast it fits a VFR...

BTW This is the 02-06 model ie SP2 and it's as close to bolt on as you will get... plus it's got that nice 3d look... Will need a set of different wheel bearings though...

600RR swing wont fit... not even with your skills... Its one solid pipe all the way at the pivot bolt... (ie no overlapping between frame and swing as stock) 1000RR is the same...

I would cut the stock pivot point off the swinger itself. Remove about 2 inches up front because i want the swingarm shorter.
Ill turn a new solid billet pivot out of aluminum on the lathe, with notches where the center needs to be removed.
Get everything perfectly square and tack it together. And triple check everything.
Once everything checks out weld in the new pivot, and add extra bracing since I wont be heat treating it.
Then remove the center section where it mounts to the engine.
Thats how I would do it. Ive already got it all figured out, because im doing it on my Ducati monster once the SH is done.

You'll also probably have to fiddle with the lower linkage mounting and dimensions as well as the new RR's have the Pro-Link suspension... but the big benefit will be the elimination of the need to mount the shock to the upper frame like the VTR currently does... this will give you alot of room to make the exhaust work as necessary...

With all these changes to suspension you really need to be careful in how you get the bike set up. Do some calculations on rake and trail and shoot for numbers that are fairly close to stock. Raising the rear and lowering the front reduces rake to points approaching instability (and possibly beyond). Moving the rider forward changes weight distribution and changes the requirements of both the forks and shock. Looks like either a Fox or a Penske on the rear already so be careful on linkage ratios or else spring and damping rates will be all screwed up as well.

Ok, ok! I take it back... You can probably make it work... I just figured it would be A LOT easier with a non pro-link swingarm...
I'll gladly cheer you on...
The thing is that with the pro-link, and you shortening the swingarm mount... Then you will have to re-do the pro-link mount as well to make it all fit... And you will have to come up with a custom linkage to a bike with a different weight and weight distribution from the 600RR... Add to that the fact that you are changing the rider position and you have a whole lot of unknown factors in that equation, as Hawkrider is saying...
I'm kinda on the limits of my experience trying to calculate the maths for a decent linkage lenght with a SP1 swing... You are entering the land of trial and error... Might work, might not...
I'm not a stranger to that myself... but I usualy like to at the least be able to calculate the odds of it working as I intended...

Yes, the VTR will remain mostly stock. Suspension and frame wise nothing will be changed.
I will be building my own suspension for the monster, hell im also building a frame and a girter front end.
Thats a 999 swingarm on the monster in the picture.
