I really like the look of the headlight bare. Any way to mount it like it is now? minus blue tape of course.

+1
The headlight design is one of my favorite parts of the bike. Covering the sides of it makes it look a lot like the other streetfighter headlights out there, which I've never been a huge fan of. Too insect-like. I love the way you have it now, with just the clear shield in front. It's aggressive and unique. I'm currently figuring out a new headlight set-up for my hawk and what you have now is basically exactly what I pictured in my head.

my 2 cents on that. Everything's looking great so far!

I like the bare headlight look too, but there is a problem.

Those projectors are not designed to be exposed to the elements, they need to be sealed.

I might seal them, Im not sure. Its alot of work.

But thats why they were getting the housing.

It's already making sense... It seems you are inverting the position of the airbox vs tank...

You do know you are bat-**** crazy though? Good kinda crazy but still... Take it from me... Takes one to know one...

You will be good for the ironbutt with a tank that big, taking all the space available.
Nice work !!

Looks like the tank is going down between the frame and the cylinder head, yes? Concerned about trapping engine heat?

It's a lot of fun seeing you work this thing out.

Its really not between either head and the frame, its between the carbs and frame, and only one one side. The other side is where the electronics are.

Why do you have a 16" front wheel? Without looking through all 800-ish posts I can't remember if you have a 900RR front end. Even so, you can swap over to a 17" with no problem.

Makes sense. I'm sure you'll figure out something sweet looking when you get around to it. Gas tank coming along nicely. You definitely going to paint it? Brushed aluminum looks nice, though I'm not sure how you'd keep it protected. It'd be a nice contrast to the black frame in any case.

here we go. Carbon and aluminum heat shield.

Bottom of fuel tank REALLY close to being done

That piece of wood is the mockup air filter. Now you can see how the airbox works

Bike weighs in at 350 lbs right now with oil. I think its safe to say it will be under 400 wet ready to ride.

I must admit I am concerned about your airbox design. My experimenting with the CV carbs on this bike have shown me (and lots of people before me as well) that when you mess with the standard airbox the carbs don't work properly. Mongrel things they can be if you start changing things. Snorkel and airfilter changes will upset them, and no amount of jetting changes will help.

Have you some parameters for the design you have used, or is it just the shape that suited?

I will have to design my own airbox at some stage when I convert it to EFI, but I have not done any research on the subject as yet.
